Girona reverses the direction of traffic on Maçana Street

The Mayor’s Office of the Girona City Council has agreed to modify the direction of traffic on Maçana Street, in the section between Orient Street and Mare de Déu de la Salut Street. The new arrangement establishes that vehicles shall travel from Orient Street towards Mare de Déu de la Salut Street, effective from Monday, September 14. The decision is recorded in a resolution signed on September 10 and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona (no. 176, edict 7989, of 14-09-2026).
The measure, promoted by the Mobility and Public Space area, is part of the ordinary management of the municipal road network and directly affects drivers and residents of the area. The change in direction was resolved through a mayoral edict, with file number 202605482, and is published in the official gazette in accordance with Article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure, given the indeterminate plurality of recipients of the measure.
Scope of the change in direction
The modification exclusively affects the section of Maçana Street delimited by two road axes of the neighborhood:
- Orient Street, the starting point of the new direction of traffic.
- Mare de Déu de la Salut Street, the end point of the route.
The new direction of traffic is established from Orient Street towards Mare de Déu de la Salut Street, such that vehicles entering Maçana Street will do so from the first point and must exit through the second.
Calendar and official publication
The resolution was issued by the Mayor’s Office on September 10 and electronically signed on the same day by the mayor, Lluc Salellas Vilar. The effects of the new traffic arrangement begin on Monday, September 14, coinciding with the date of publication in the official gazette.
In addition to the insertion in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona, the resolution must be made public on the City Council Notice Board, as required by the common administrative procedure regulations for decisions with indeterminate recipients.
Impact on drivers and residents
The change in direction will force drivers who habitually use Maçana Street to rethink their itineraries, especially those accessing from Mare de Déu de la Salut Street, who will have to seek alternative routes.
