Getxo City Council has approved and published a call for grants for the economic dynamization of the municipality, addressed to business and professional associations and federations. The call was published in the Boletín Oficial de Bizkaia, issue number 178, on September 17, 2026, in section II, and the BDNS identifier is 928175. The decision was made by the Local Government Board, through agreement number 33, on September 8, 2026.

The call has been published under the protection of the Getxo City Council’s regulatory ordinance for granting subsidies, as received in the Boletín Oficial de Bizkaia, issue number 26/2025, on February 7, 2025. Furthermore, it complies with the provisions of articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the Law 38/2003 of November 17 on Subsidies, and a summary of the call can be consulted in the National Subsidy Database.

The agreement includes three decisions: the approval of the call, the authorization of an expenditure of 50,000 euros, and the publication of the call. The document was signed in Getxo on September 9, 2026, by Councilor Juanma González Mosquera, head of the Getxo area.

Target audience and strategic sectors

The grants are available to professional associations, business associations, and other organizations operating in the Basque Autonomous Community, provided that the professionalization of agents in strategic areas is part of their social purpose. They must be registered in the Registry of Associations of the Basque Government or the corresponding registry, and each organization may submit only one project.

The objective of the call is to attract events of a professional or business nature to the municipality that place Getxo within strategic sectors:

  • Innovative business initiatives in the fields of wellness, healthy living, and sports.
  • Creative and cultural industries.
  • Positioning in the field of tourism, within segments linked to those sectors.

In the evaluation, 20 points will be awarded specifically to activities addressed to the Sea and surfing, Audiovisuals, Music, or Design sectors.

Amount and evaluation

The call has a credit of 50,000 euros, from budget item 070-4330-4810000 for 2026. Each project may receive a maximum of 12,500 euros, and they will be granted under the regime of pure competitive bidding. Projects that obtain 65 points or more will receive 100% of the eligible expenses; those below 65 points, however, will remain without aid. In the event of a tie in scoring, priority will be given to requests registered earlier.

Deadlines and processing

Applications must be submitted electronically through the Getxo City Council’s electronic office, and the deadline for this is 15 business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the Boletín Oficial de Bizkaia. The projects, meanwhile, must be carried out from the day after publication until March 31, 2027.

Expenses and conditions

Eligible expenses include personnel directly assigned to the activity, advertising and communication, other professional services, and other expenses related to dynamization. The limits are as follows:

  • Personnel expenses: 20% of the maximum eligible amount.
  • Advertising and communication: 20% of the total subsidized cost.
  • Catering and meals: 10% of the total subsidized amount.
  • Subcontracting: up to 100% of the total amount of the activity, but a maximum of 50% to a single supplier.

Indirect costs and financial expenses are not eligible. Furthermore, beneficiary organizations must clearly state in communication materials that the activity is subsidized by the Getxo City Council and the Economic Promotion department; posters must be made in both languages, and the hashtag #Getxo and mentions of the @getxolan and @GetxoUdala accounts must be used on social networks.

Resolution and payment

The maximum period for resolution is three months, starting from the day following the end of the application period; if there is no resolution after this period, the application will be considered withdrawn. The resolution will be notified to the organizations within ten days. The instructing body is the Economic Promotion department, and the resolution will be the responsibility of the Local Government Board for amounts exceeding 30,000 euros; for amounts that do not exceed this figure, it will be the responsibility of the councillor for Economic Promotion.

Payment will be made in two installments: 75% when the aid is resolved, and the remaining 25% after the justification is presented and it is verified that the conditions have been met. The justification must be presented, at the latest, by the last day of April of the year following the call.

Impact on the municipality

The call aims to strengthen the professionalization and visibility of the Getxo business fabric, attracting external professionals to the municipality through associations and federations. The grants are compatible with grants from other public or private organizations, but they must never exceed the total cost of the activity, and they are incompatible with grants from the council itself for the same concept.
