Gáldar and San Bartolomé put their planning modifications out for public consultation

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 165, dated August 18, 2026, publishes in its announcements section two public information procedures affecting the urban planning of two municipalities in Gran Canaria: the substantial modification of the General Planning Plan of Gáldar and the advancement of the detailed planning of sector T-9 El Tablero in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Both files are open for allegations for a period of forty-five business days.

Gáldar: open spaces and facilities in the town center

The Vice-Ministry of Territorial Planning and Demographic Challenge submits for public information the environmental documentation of the Simplified Strategic Environmental Assessment procedure for the Partial Substantial Modification of the PGO of Gáldar for the implementation of the General System of Open Spaces/Parking and Social Facilities Gáldar Casco G-13. The announcement, dated August 3, 2026, stems from Resolution No. 47, dated July 31, 2026, which initiates the procedure.

The technical documentation, which includes the draft modification and its Strategic Environmental Document, can be consulted on the plan environmental assessment portal of the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion, and Waters. The purpose of the consultation is to gather the precise environmental information to prepare the Strategic Environmental Report, without assessing other types of considerations, in accordance with article 18.2 of the Planning Regulations of the Canary Islands. The announcement is signed by the Vice-Minister Elena Zárate Altamirano.

San Bartolomé: sector T-9 El Tablero

The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana announces the acknowledgment, agreed upon by the Plenary in the ordinary session of June 2, 2026, of the Advancement of the substantial modification of the General Urban Planning Plan of the municipality, the detailed planning of sector T-9 El Tablero, and its Strategic Environmental Study.

The procedure is carried out in accordance with articles 164 and 165 of Law 4/2017, of July 13, on Land and Protected Natural Spaces of the Canary Islands, and is completed with the consultation process with the various administrations. During this period, any allegations, claims, or observations deemed appropriate may be submitted in writing to the General Registry of the City Council. The announcement, dated July 7, 2026, is signed by the Councilor for the Government Area of Urban Planning, Heritage, Patrimonial Liability, and Housing, Alejandro Iván Marichal Ramos.

A dual procedure with impact on the territory

Both actions affect key pieces of urban and developable land in Gran Canaria: in Gáldar, the reorganization of a general system of open spaces and facilities in the town center; in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the detailed planning of a residential sector in El Tablero. The coincidence of the two forty-five-day periods offers residents, entities, and administrations the opportunity to comment on the territorial model of both municipalities before the instruments are definitively approved.
