FUNDARTE opens the selection process for the Management-Directorate of the Villamarta Theater

The Board of Trustees of the University Cultural Foundation of the Arts of Jerez (FUNDARTE), in a session held on August 14, 2026 (item 2 of the agenda), agreed to approve the guidelines for the call to select the holder of the Director-Management position of the Foundation and the Villamarta Theater. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz, number 162, dated August 24, 2026, with reference No. 274,320.

The position is configured as a senior management employment relationship, oriented toward the comprehensive management of the entity, with functions of executive direction, administration, strategic planning, cultural programming, personnel coordination, and economic-contractual management. The appointed person shall be subject to the regime of incompatibilities, conflicts of interest, transparency, and good governance, and their appointment shall be for an indefinite duration, without prejudice to the Board’s authority to agree upon their termination.

Remuneration and requirements

The gross annual remuneration amounts to 66,225.04 euros. To be admitted, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Possess a higher university degree, preferably in Law, Economics, Business Administration and Management, Public Management and Administration, Humanities, or related degrees.
• Accredit a minimum experience of five years in positions of responsibility linked to the management and direction of cultural entities, programming and production of performing arts, or executive management of cultural projects.
• Present a direction and management project for the Foundation.
• Not be subject to any cause of incompatibility or conflict of interest, nor have been dismissed from service or disqualified from public employment or office.

Submission of applications

Applications shall be addressed to the Presidency of FUNDARTE and should preferably be submitted by electronic means. The submission period shall be ten business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz. The call will also be published as a Job Offer on the Villamarta Theater website.

The documentation to be provided includes the application for participation, proof of identity, a detailed curriculum vitae, employment history, management and direction project (not exceeding 25 pages), and a responsible declaration of compliance with the requirements.

Selection process

The evaluation of candidacies shall be the responsibility of a Selection Committee, whose composition will be made public before the start of the process. The procedure comprises the following phases:

• Admission of applications, with the publication of provisional and final lists of admitted and excluded candidates.
• Assessment of merits, with a scale of up to 5 points for complementary training, up to 5 points for additional professional experience, and up to 10 points for the management and direction project.
• Competency interview, which the Commission may arrange for the highest-rated candidates.

Once the phases are completed, the Commission will formulate a reasoned proposal in favor of the three candidacies with the highest overall score. The Presidency, in accordance with Article 14 of the Statutes, will submit the appointment proposal to the Board of Trustees, and the person finally designated will sign the corresponding senior management employment contract with FUNDARTE. The procedure may be declared void if no candidacy reaches the required level of suitability.

Impact

The selection of the new Management-Directorate of the Teatro Villamarta is a decision of great cultural impact for Jerez de la Frontera, as it is one of the reference performing arts facilities in the province of Cádiz. The process, governed by criteria of merit, capacity, and suitability, will define the artistic programming and the management of the Foundation for the coming years, with special attention to the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of the local cultural fabric.
