Fuerteventura y Proexca coordinan la internacionalización con 6.500 euros anuales

The Insular Council of Fuerteventura and the Canarian Society for Economic Promotion, S.A. (Proexca) have signed an agreement to coordinate the internationalization actions of the Majorero economy, with an insular contribution of 6,500 euros per year. The agreement, signed on September 4, 2026, under code C_3_25, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 216, of October 28, 2026, in section V. Announcements, page 38962. The dissemination corresponds to an announcement dated October 15, 2026, from the CEO of Proexca, Pablo Martín Carbajal González, fulfilling the publication duty provided for in Article 20 of Decree 11/2019, of February 11.

The text defines the objective as “delimiting the scope of participation in the internationalization actions of the economy of the island of Fuerteventura.” The agreement is signed by the president of the Council, Dolores Alicia García Martínez, by virtue of Article 57.b) of Law 8/2015, of April 1, on insular councils, and Proexca, a public commercial entity attached to the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, registered in the Mercantile Registry of Las Palmas (volume 1448, folio 172, page GC-2190, CIF A38282455).

Actions covered by the agreement

The second clause lists, “by way of reference,” the activities and expenses assumable by both parties:

  • Direct and inverse business missions and prospecting trips.
  • Trade fairs: registration, rental of space and furniture, design and operation of the stand.
  • Point-of-sale promotions, tastings, exhibitions, and workshops.
  • Participation in contests, conferences, and seminars, including the travel allowance for speakers.
  • Dissemination material: catalogs, brochures, posters, and signage.
  • Websites, marketplaces, and social networks, with positioning and content services.
  • Advice, training, and tutoring in internationalization processes.
  • Softlanding and aftercare services for companies considering establishing themselves on the island.

Protocolary attentions (cocktails, meals, gifts, awards) and merchandising material are expressly excluded as eligible expenses.

Economic distribution and calendar

The Council contributes 6,500 euros, charged to item 61100 4330G “Internationalization Proexca Agreement” of the 2026 budget, already reserved with references 22026000421 to 22026000424. The financial capacity table repeats this figure for 2027 and 2028, and the amount is a maximum. Proexca will communicate the allocation for each year to the Council once approved by its Management. Actions must be completed before December 15 of each year, and the justifying certification shall be delivered no later than December 18.

Monitoring, validity, and strategic fit

A monitoring commission is created consisting of a counselor from the Cabildo and, on behalf of Proexca, the director of the Foreign Promotion Area for outbound actions and the director of the Invest in Canary Islands Area for attraction actions. The agreement is in effect from its signing until December 31, 2026, and is automatically renewable annually, up to a maximum of two extensions.

The agreement is based on strategic objective 8 of the Cabildo’s Strategic Innovation Plan 2021-2027, approved on February 22, 2021, and on initiative B.13 of the Operational Strategy for the Internationalization of the Canarian Economy, regarding the approach to non-capital islands. Participating companies must be up to date with their payments to the Government of the Canary Islands.

The agreement provides a stable channel for a line of work that until now depended on annual calls: exporting companies from a non-capital island will have a multi-year framework for trade fairs, missions, and consultancy, with a modest but predictable spending ceiling subject to documentary justification.
