Fuerteventura publishes the final list for the fifth grade of professional career

The Health Services Management of the Fuerteventura Health Area has published the final list of approved and rejected applications for placement in the new fifth grade of professional career for health diploma personnel. The resolution, dated August 27, 2026, appears in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and recognizes the grade for approximately 60 professionals on the island, with economic effects starting from January 1, 2025.

The fifth grade of the professional career was created by the twelfth additional provision of Law 5/2024, of December 26, on the General Budgets of the Canary Islands for 2025. Decree 80/2025, of June 9, incorporated the new level into the regulatory decrees of the professional career and extended its application to temporary and substitute personnel. The placement was processed through the ordinary procedure provided for in Instruction No. 8/2025 of the Director of the Canary Health Service, with applications submitted between July 15 and October 14, 2025.

Requirements and scale

To access the fifth grade, it is required to prove a minimum of 28 years of professional practice and pass the merit evaluation. The scale sets a minimum number of credits per factor:

• Professional training: 25 credits.
• Professional activity: 75 credits.
• Total: 100 credits.

Approved applications

Annex III of the resolution contains the final list of approved applications, by category and specialty, with the fifth grade recognized. Among the placed professionals are, among others, Félix Alcon Gil, María Teresa Arguelles Curro, Irene Arrieta Canales, Nuria Balbuena Álvarez, Esperanza Bardanca Varela, Domingo Berriel Hernández, José Manuel Moya Pérez, María del Mar Miranda Sánchez, and Julia María Dos Santos Sousa Martinho, in the categories of Nursing, Family and Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Midwifery.

Rejections and claims

Annex I lists the applications rejected for not meeting the necessary requirements and conditions, including those of José Felipe Cabrera Méndez, Anna Enrietti, Francisco Javier Fernández Curbelo, and Guayarmina Pérez Valdivia. Annex II includes those rejected for not passing the evaluation of accredited merits, such as that of Anna Enrietti.

The Evaluation Committee upheld the claims of Irene Arrieta Canales, José Manuel Moya Pérez, Julia María Dos Santos Sousa Martinho, María de los Reyes Lancha de la Cruz, and Nuria Balbuena Álvarez, who were added to the final list of approved claims, and accepted the withdrawals of Esther González Sánchez and Esara Perdomo Gómez. The application of María Dolores Guerra Morato remained pending a new individual resolution, as it is awaiting the professional career objectives for services rendered in Galicia.

Effects and appeals

The resolution takes administrative and economic effect from January 1, 2025, regardless of the last recognized grade, in accordance with the exceptional regime for initial classification. Against this resolution, which exhausts administrative remedies, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months or, optionally, a request for reversal may be filed within one month before the Directorate of the Canary Health Service.
