Fuente del Maestre busca juez de paz titular y sustituto

The Fuente del Maestre City Council has initiated the proceedings for the election of a titular and substitute justice of the peace and keeps the application period open. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 188, dated October 1, 2026, via Announcement 3809/2026, and stems from Mayoral Resolution 2026-0919, dated September 27, 2026.

The announcement appears in the Local Administration section, within the city councils category, and complies with Article 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace. The body promoting the procedure is the Mayor’s Office of Fuente del Maestre, whose holder, Juan Antonio Barrios García, signs the resolution opening the file. The justice of the peace is a local judicial figure who acts within the municipality and whose appointment affects all residents.

Fifteen business days to submit candidacies

The deadline for submitting applications will be fifteen business days from the publication of this announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province. Interested parties who meet the required capacity and compatibility conditions may collect and submit the application at the entry registry of the Fuente del Maestre City Council, located at Plaza de España, 1.

The application form will also be available to interested parties on the municipal electronic office, via the link provided by the Fuente del Maestre City Council.

Requirements for applicants

The requirements are those provided by the current Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, for entry into the judicial career, except those derived from age retirement, provided that this does not constitute a physical or psychological impediment to the position. Specifically, the following are required:

  • To be Spanish.
  • To be of legal age.
  • Not to be included in any of the causes of incapacity established in Article 303 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary.

This provision declares those physically or psychologically impeded from judicial functions, those convicted of an intentional crime until they have obtained rehabilitation, those prosecuted or accused of an intentional crime until they are acquitted or a dismissal order is issued, and those not in full exercise of their civil rights, as incapacitated for entry into the judicial career.

Documentation accompanying the application

The application must be accompanied by the following documentation:

  • Copy of the national identity document.
  • Criminal record certificate, issued by the Central Registry of Convicts of the Ministry of Justice.
  • Medical certificate stating that the applicant does not suffer from any illness that would incapacitate them from exercising the office of justice of the peace.
  • Sworn declaration of not being subject to any cause of incompatibility.
  • Sworn declaration of current profession.

The publication of the announcement is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace, the regulation that governs the selection procedure for this position within the municipal scope.

The call directly affects the residents of Fuente del Maestre, as the justice of the peace assumes proximity functions in the administration of justice, and their absence requires traveling to other judicial venues. The period of fifteen business days begins to count from the publication of the announcement; therefore, applicants who meet the requirements must formalize their application within that timeframe.
