Francisco Javier Úbeda Nieto, new Secretary General of the Presidency

The Governing Council of Castilla-La Mancha has agreed to the appointment of Francisco Javier Úbeda Nieto as Secretary General of the Presidency, a key position within the structure of the regional Executive. The decision is formalized through Decree 48/2026, dated September 1, signed by the president of the Junta, Emiliano García-Page Sánchez, and published in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha number 169, dated September 3, 2026.

The decree is adopted at the proposal of the president and following deliberation by the Governing Council at its meeting on September 1, 2026. The regulation, issued in Toledo, takes effect on the day of its publication in the official bulletin, meaning the appointment is fully in force as of this Thursday.

A Coordination Role for the Executive

The General Secretariat of the Presidency is one of the central pieces of the regional Government’s administrative organization, responsible for the coordination and support of the activities of the Presidency and the bodies that depend on it. The appointment is framed within the section of dismissals and appointments of the Presidency of the Junta, under the authorities and personnel section of the bulletin.

The new secretary general thus assumes a top-level responsibility in the articulation of the Executive’s decisions and in the relationship with the various ministries and bodies of the autonomous administration.

The appointment reinforces the regional Executive’s management team at a time when the coordination of government action is essential for the management of the autonomous community’s affairs. Filling this position ensures the administrative continuity of the Presidency and the services that depend on it.
