Figuerola del Camp approves the master plan for drinking water supply

Por FactBox Admin

The Figuerola del Camp City Council has definitively approved the municipality’s Drinking Water Supply Master Plan, a key instrument to guarantee supply and organize local hydraulic planning. The announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on September 3, 2026, with the official reference CVE 2026-08264 and file no. 4305930008-2024-0000053.

The document, drafted by the company MS Consultors, was initially approved by the Municipal Plenary in an extraordinary session held on June 5, 2026. After completing the public exhibition process without any allegations or claims, the initial approval became definitive on August 4, 2026, as stated in the announcement signed by Mayor Joan Vilà Canela.

Processing and public exhibition

The Master Plan was submitted for public information for a period of 30 business days, via an announcement on the City Council’s notice board, the municipal electronic office, and the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on June 18, 2026 (reference CVE 2026-05465).

During this period, no allegations or claims were filed against the Master Plan or against the plenary agreement that initially approved it, which allowed the approval to become definitive without modifications.

Content and scope of the plan

The Drinking Water Supply Master Plan is the planning instrument that defines the actions necessary to guarantee the water supply to the municipality in the medium and long term. Among its main objectives are:

  • Ensuring the availability and quality of drinking water for the population.
  • Organizing the infrastructure for catchment, storage, and distribution.
  • Planning investments and actions to improve the network.
  • Adapting the service to the current and future needs of the municipality.

Appeals and effects

The definitive approval ends the administrative route. A contentious-administrative appeal may be filed against this agreement within two months of notification before the Court of First Instance of Tarragona, Contentious-Administrative Section. Alternatively, and optionally, a motion for reconsideration may be filed before the same body that issued it within one month starting from the day after notification.

With this approval, Figuerola del Camp has a technical and administrative roadmap for the management of its drinking water service, a relevant step for the security of supply and hydraulic planning of a municipality in the Camp de Tarragona region.
