Figueres calls for 10,000 euros in grants for high-level athletes

The Figueres City Council has opened the call for grants for individual athletes from the city who compete in high-level or high-performance competitions during 2026. The resolution, signed by the sports councillor Pere Montserrat Coll on September 15, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona number 181, of September 21, 2026, with edict number 8109 and official reference BOP-2026_0_181_8109. The call is registered in the National Grants Database under number BDNS 929686 and has a total allocation of 10,000.00 euros.

The regulatory bases framing these grants were approved by the Local Governing Board, by delegation of the Plenary, in the session of July 31, 2024, and were published in BOPG number 180, of August 20, 2024. The procedure is processed under a competitive bidding regime, in accordance with article 22 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general grants law, and is financed through the budget application 26 203 34100 48000 SPORTS GRANTS for the 2026 financial year.

Who can apply for the grants

The recipients are amateur, non-professional athletes from Figueres under 30 years of age who practice individual or pair sports. Results must have been achieved in competitions recognized by sports federations at the Catalan, state, or international level.

• Podium in Catalonia Championships.
• Participation or podium in Spanish Championships.
• Participation or podium in European championships.
• Participation in world championships or higher.
• High-level or high-performance athlete certificate issued by the Consejo Superior de Deportes or the Consell Català de l’Esport.

Applications may be submitted by natural persons or their legal representatives, in the case of minors. Only one application per athlete is permitted and the processing is electronic, using a digital certificate, through the entry registry of the Figueres City Council or by the means provided for in article 16 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.

Deadlines, amounts, and evaluation criteria

The deadline for submitting applications is from September 28 to October 26, 2026, both inclusive. Merits are evaluated for the period between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.

• Maximum amount per athlete: 1,800.00 euros.
• Sporting result achieved in official competition: up to 60 points.
• High-level or high-performance certificate: up to 20 points.
• Analysis of the athlete’s expense budget: up to 20 points.

The maximum score is 100 points, and only the best sporting result achieved is valued. The value of the point results from dividing the budget allocation by the total points obtained; if the endowment were lower than the resulting amount, a correction factor would be applied to adjust it proportionally. The grants are compatible with other public or private aid for the same activity, provided that the sum does not exceed the total cost.

Evaluation Commission and Resolution

The instruction of the procedure corresponds to the municipal sports service, while the evaluation of the applications will be carried out by an evaluation commission composed of:

• President: Pere Montserrat, delegated councilor of the Sports Service.
• Head of the Sports Service: Rafael Bonillo Masó.
• Municipal technicians of the Sports Service: Màrius Vergés Rosa and Carlos Lara González.
• Secretary: Maria Victoria Tejeda Martínez, head of Administrative Management of the people’s services area.

The Mayor’s Office will resolve the call within a maximum period of one month from the end of the application period. Notifications will be made electronically via e-NOTUM, and the award is understood to be tacitly accepted if no allegations or waivers are presented within 15 days. An administrative contentious appeal may be filed against the resolution before the Administrative Contentious Court of Girona within two months, or a motion for reconsideration within one month.

Beneficiaries must collaborate in sporting activities and events in the municipality, promote the values of sport, represent the city with dignity, and include the logo of the Figueres City Council in all their graphic and audiovisual production.

This call reaches the families and sports clubs of Figueres at the very start of the season and covers the competition expenses of athletes competing outside the city. With a ceiling of 1,800 euros per athlete and a merit period that closes on September 30, interested parties have one month to gather the federation card, result certificates, and the expense budget.
