FIFEDE announces twelve scholarships for training internships abroad

The Canarian Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (FIFEDE) has published the call for the granting of up to 12 grants intended for the completion of non-labor training internships abroad, within the framework of the “Becas América 2026” project. The announcement, with reference 1849206 and identification number in the National Grants Database 928071, appears in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife number 110, dated September 14, 2026, on page 26090.

The call is governed by the Bases approved by the Insular Governing Council in an ordinary session on January 29, 2025, and published in the gazette on February 5 of the same year. The budget credit allocated to the initiative amounts to 212,408.96 euros, and the application period is 30 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the summary.

Destinations and grant amounts

The internships will take place in collaborating entities in Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, and Chile —public bodies, private companies, and third-sector entities— with a maximum stay of eight months at the host entity selected by FIFEDE. The grant consists of two parts:

• A monthly cash allowance: 950 gross euros if the destination is Uruguay; 900 euros if it is Mexico or Chile; and 850 euros if it is Colombia.
• An in-kind portion, managed by FIFEDE, which covers plane tickets, accommodation in shared housing, travel assistance and civil liability insurance, and visas and mandatory vaccinations.

FIFEDE will also process visas, permits, and insurance, and will pay the Social Security contributions for each beneficiary, who will be registered under the modality of contracts for training and apprenticeship in accordance with RD 1493/2011.

Requirements and selection process

Those eligible for the grants are persons with Spanish nationality, or nationality of a Member State of the European Union or the European Economic Area, who are between 18 and 35 years old, have resided habitually and uninterruptedly in Tenerife during the last year, and are unemployed or seeking employment improvement. A university degree, intermediate or higher Vocational Training, or a professional certificate is required, as well as a minimum level of English equivalent to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.

The evaluation of applications, based on a maximum of 100 points, follows these criteria:

• Proficiency in the language of the host country: up to 25 points.
• Proficiency in another foreign language: up to 15 points.
• International and intercultural interests: up to 15 points.
• Curriculum vitae assessment: up to 5 points.
• Personal interview, in-person or via videoconference: up to 40 points, with a minimum of 20 to be selected.

The proposed resolution will be published on the notice board of the FIFEDE electronic headquarters, with a period of ten business days for allegations, and the procedure must be resolved within a maximum of six months. The announcement is signed by the president of the foundation, Efraín Medina Hernández, dated September 7, 2026.
