Por FactBox Admin

The Ferrol City Council opens the call for the 2027 Christmas Gifts (Agasallos de Nadal), a welfare benefit of 50 euros per minor aimed at families registered in the municipality with economic difficulties. The regulatory bases are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 200, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, under announcement number 2026/6657. The document was signed in Ferrol on October 13, 2026, by the Councilor for Social Policy and Inclusion, Rosa María Martínez Beceiro.
The call is processed by the Department of Social Welfare and aims, according to the text itself, to «contribute to the promotion of equality for boys and girls from families in the City Council of Ferrol who currently have a precarious economic situation», a line of action that the Council maintains annually. The grants are considered a welfare benefit for the purposes of article 2.2 a) of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia.
The maximum initial credit fixed in the bases is 20,000 euros, without prejudice to subsequent modifications, and the processing of the expenditure is carried out as an anticipated file based on article 56 of Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21. The expenditure will be charged to the budgetary application 04001-2318-48000.
Six months of registration and under 17 years old
The legal representatives of the minors —father, mother, or guardian— who meet these conditions may apply for the aid:
- Be registered and reside in the City Council of Ferrol with a minimum seniority of six months.
- Coexist and be registered with the minors for whom the aid is requested, a verification that is carried out ex officio.
- The minor must not have reached 17 years of age on the Three Kings’ Day holiday of the corresponding call.
- The income of the family unit must not exceed the maximums of the scale.
- Submit the required documentation in a timely and proper manner.
In cases of joint custody, only one application is considered, and that of the cohabiting parent takes precedence. The coexistence unit includes father, mother or guardian, spouses and domestic partners, the children of any of them, and ascendants. The regulation refers to Law 3/2011, of June 30, on family support and coexistence in Galicia, to define the single-parent family.
Income scale and 50 euro vouchers
The evaluation criterion is exclusively economic. The scale takes 1.5 times the IPREM, increased by 15% for each new member, with a limit of 1,574.09 euros for the 2026 financial year:
- Two members: 900 euros.
- Three members: 1,035 euros.
- Four members: 1,190.25 euros.
- Five members: 1,368.78 euros.
- Six members: 1,574.09 euros.
Up to a maximum of 300 euros for rent or mortgage expenses of the habitual residence may be deducted from the total income. Income from foster care, home care by a family caregiver, or the benefit for a dependent child are not computed.
The amount of the aid is 50 euros per minor and is made effective through a voucher with the Ferrol City Council logo, signed by the Councilor for Social Policy and Inclusion and delivered to the family for the total amount granted. The voucher can be exchanged for toys, CDs, books, sportswear, sporting goods, or any material related to new technologies in Ferrol commercial establishments that accept it. It may be split, with a minimum of 50 euros per operation, is for single use, and its validity ends on January 5th, the day before the Three Kings’ Day holiday.
Ten business days to submit the application
Applications, including annexes I, II, and III and complete documentation, are submitted at the General Registry of the City Council or through any of the channels specified in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, within a period of 10 business days from the day following the publication of the bases in the BOP and on the Edicts Board of the municipal electronic headquarters. Applications submitted outside the deadline will be inadmissible.
Social Services evaluate the requests and publish a list of admitted and excluded applicants with reasons, with a period of 10 business days to make corrections. Exceptionally, technical staff may officially include beneficiary minors if the exceptionality is proven by a technical report. Recipients of RISGA and users of the Minors’ Day Center of Ferrol are exempt from part of the documentation.
The grant implies the transfer of the right of collection to the businesses, which must present an electronic invoice along with the vouchers by a deadline of March 15th of the following calendar year; after this deadline, they lose the right to payment.
The call arrives when there are still more than two months until Christmas, an advance that allows families to know the available amount before shopping. For Ferrol households with minors and tight incomes, the 50-euro voucher per child is direct support for consumption in local commerce, while the 20,000-euro limit marks the actual ceiling of the campaign.
