Federico Jaime López assumes the municipal cultural representation in Seville
Por FactBox Admin

The Governing Board of the City of Seville, in a session held on September 25, 2026, approved the removal of Fernando Mañes Izquierdo and the appointment of Federico Jaime López, Director General of Culture of the Seville City Council, as the municipal representative on the governing bodies of the Seville Symphony Orchestra and the Teatro de la Maestranza. Both agreements are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville number 190, dated Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in the Local Administration section, pages 186 and 187, with official references BOP-SE-2026-190034 and BOP-SE-2026-190035.
The handover occurs “for organizational reasons and on the occasion of the appointment of the new Director General of Culture,” according to the literal text of both proposals, processed by the General Coordination of the Mayor’s Office through the Mayor’s Office Service under files 94/2023 and 95.4/2023. The agreements do not end their course in the gazette: in both cases, the second point orders to “inform the Plenary in the next session to be held,” so that the final composition of the governing bodies of the two cultural societies will pass through the municipal plenary.
The Seville Symphony Orchestra renews its board
Agreement BOP-SE-2026-190034 proposes the removal of Fernando Mañes Izquierdo as the representative of the Seville City Council on the Board of Directors of the Seville Symphony Orchestra Society and the appointment of Federico Jaime López in his place. The municipal representation on that body consists of six members:
- Ángela María Moreno.
- Federico Jaime López.
- María del Castillo Rueda Fernández.
- Juan Bueno Navarro.
- Victoriano Martín Ortiz.
- Luis Rey Goñi.
The proposal is based on the powers attributed by Article 14 of the society’s corporate Bylaws and the powers delegated by Mayoral Resolution No. 921, of September 30, 2024. The agreement modifies the distribution approved by the Governing Board on September 29, 2023, which had already been corrected by the agreements of February 7, 2024, and September 9, 2024.
The Teatro de la Maestranza is left with two representatives
The second agreement, BOP-SE-2026-190035, modifies the designation of representatives of the Seville City Council on the Advisory Council of the Teatro de la Maestranza y Salas del Arenal, S.A. Society, with the appointment of Federico Jaime López replacing Fernando Mañes Izquierdo. The municipal representation on the Advisory Council is reduced to two names:
- Ángela María Moreno Ramón.
- Federico Jaime López.
The text invokes Article 7 of the Statutes of the Consortium for the management and operation of the cultural activities and services of the Teatro de la Maestranza and Salas del Arenal de Sevilla, Article 127.1 m) of Law 7/1985, Regulating the Bases of Local Government, and the same delegation of Mayoral Resolution No. 921, of September 30, 2024. The previous appointment dated back to the agreement of the Governing Board of October 6, 2023, modified by the agreements of February 7, 2024, and September 6, 2024.
Procedure and municipal context
Both resolutions appear signed by the Head of the Mayoral Service, Fatima Feu Viegas, on September 28, 2026, and are published “for general knowledge” in the provincial bulletin. The handover does not remove Fernando Mañes Izquierdo from municipal life: the Plenary of September 17, 2026, at the proposal of the Popular Group, appointed him as a full member of the Governing Council of the Seville Tax Agency replacing Minerva Salas López, according to the agreement published in BOP number 185, of September 23, 2026 (BOP-SE-2026-185013).
The move thus concentrates in the head of the General Directorate of Culture the voice of the Seville City Council before the city’s two main musical and performing arts institutions, the Seville Symphony Orchestra and the Teatro de la Maestranza, in a single package of agreements approved in a single session of the Governing Board. For readers, the relevant fact is that the municipal dialogue with both societies now depends on a single executive position, with the support of the delegation established in Mayoral Resolution No. 921 and pending ratification by the Plenary.
