Insularity Factor: 13 renewable energy grants for 127,254 euros

The Department of Enterprise, Freelancers and Energy of the Government of the Balearic Islands has published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 104, of August 20, 2026, two provisional resolution proposals granting subsidies for the promotion of investments in renewable energies, electrical storage, and charging infrastructure within the framework of the Insularity Factor of the Balearic Islands (FACTOR 2026). In total, the grants amount to 127,254.87 euros distributed among 13 beneficiaries.

The proposals, electronically signed on August 14, 2026, by the Director General of Circular Economy, Energy Transition and Climate Change, Diego Viu Domínguez, are published in Section III of the gazette and remain open for allegations for ten business days from the day following publication.

A framework funded by the Insularity Factor

The subsidies are part of the 2026-2027 public call approved by resolution of the Minister of Enterprise, Freelancers and Energy, published in BOIB no. 83, of July 2, 2026. The funds come from the Insularity Factor, in accordance with Royal Decree-Law 4/2019, of February 22, regarding the special regime of the Balearic Islands.

The grants are not considered state aid, as the beneficiaries do not carry out economic activity, and are governed by the Law 38/2003 general law on subsidies and Legislative Decree 2/2005 approving the Revised Text of the Law on subsidies.

First file: 12 beneficiaries and 60,769.99 euros

The first proposal (document 8376) grants subsidies for a total amount of 60,769.99 euros to 12 beneficiaries, with investments ranging from renewable thermal generation to storage for self-consumption and charging infrastructure. The aid percentages applied are 70% for thermal generation and charging, and 45% for storage.

Second file: one homeowners’ association for 66,484.88 euros

The second proposal (document 837.837) grants a subsidy of 66,484.88 euros to a single beneficiary, the homeowners’ association CP Residencial Aequa Palma, for the installation of photovoltaic self-consumption of 101.6 kWp, with an aid percentage of 70% on an investment of 94,978.40 euros.

Deadlines and obligations

The actions may begin from January 1, 2026, and must be completed within a timeframe that varies according to the program and power: from 4 months for installations up to 10 kWp to 9 months for those over 100 kWp, and 5 months for programs 2, 3, and 4. In any case, for the 2027 fiscal year, the deadline for the completion of the action cannot exceed September 15, 2027.

Beneficiaries must maintain the investment for a minimum of five years and keep the supporting documentation for the same period, among other financial control and reimbursement obligations in case of irregularities.

Impact for citizens

These provisional resolution proposals, which may still be subject to allegations, consolidate the deployment of the Insularity Factor as an instrument to compensate for the energy overcost of the Balearic Islands and to promote self-consumption, storage, and electric mobility among individuals and homeowners’ associations. Their final approval, expected from the Minister of Enterprise, Freelancers, and Energy, will open the way to the actual payment of the grants over the coming months.
