Extremadura publica las fiestas locales de 2027 para todos sus municipios

The General Directorate of Labor of the Regional Government of Extremadura has made public the official labor calendar of local holidays for 2027, featuring the two non-working days corresponding to each municipality in the region. The list is included in the annex of the Resolution of October 15, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) no. 207, of October 27, 2026, with official reference 2026062650. The document bears the signature of the Director General of Labor, Pilar Bueno Espada, and is dated in Mérida on October 15.

Twelve regional holidays plus two local ones

The regulatory framework is based on article 37.2 of the Workers’ Statute, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of October 23, which limits paid and non-recoverable labor holidays to fourteen per year and reserves two of them for the local sphere. Decree 119/2026, of June 2 (DOE no. 108, of June 8), set the twelve labor holidays for the community for 2027 and established in its article 3 that the two remaining days would be determined by resolution of the general directorate competent in labor matters, upon the proposal of each city council.

The resolution is also supported by article 10.1.h) of Decree 187/2018, of November 13 (DOE of November 19), regarding the distribution of competencies and the creation of public registries in the execution of labor legislation. The text provides, in its first point, to determine those two days for 2027 as non-working, paid, and non-recoverable as local holidays, and in the second, their publication in the DOE.

Two provinces, hundreds of calendars

The annex organizes the list into two blocks, headed by the province of Badajoz and that of Cáceres, with the name of each municipality and its two dates. Some examples from the capitals and large populations:

  • Badajoz: February 9 and June 24.
  • Cáceres: April 23 and May 28.
  • Mérida: May 13 and December 10.
  • Plasencia: June 10 and 11.
  • Don Benito: March 29 and September 10.
  • Almendralejo: March 19 and August 16.
  • Navalmoral de la Mata: February 9 and 10.
  • Zafra: May 15 and October 5.
  • Trujillo: March 29 and September 6.
  • Coria: May 10 and June 24.

The dates are spread throughout the year: the earliest is January 11 (Descargamaría) and the latest is December 26 (Guijo de Coria), passing through December 21 in Navatrasierra and December 24 in Vegaviana. March 29 and September 14 are, by far, the most repeated days across the annex.

Consecutive holidays and localities with a single day

A large part of the municipalities concentrate their two days on consecutive dates, which in practice creates two-day long weekends:

  • Plasencia (June 10 and 11), Navalmoral de la Mata (February 9 and 10), Santiago de Alcántara (September 2 and 3), Hervás and Torremayor (September 14 and 15), Carcaboso, Torre de Santa María, Madrigal de la Vera and Portezuelo (September 20 and 21), Acehúche and Hernán-Pérez (January 20 and 21).
  • Also listed are Cabrero and Robledillo de la Vera (September 29 and 30), Bohonal de Ibor (August 24 and 25), Rotura de Cabañas (May 20 and 21) and Aldehuela del Jerte (February 3 and 4).

Four entities appear with a single day in the annex: La Bazana (May 15), Brovales (September 8), Trevejo (May 3) and Valuengo (June 24).

Effects on contracts, competitive examinations, and commerce

The resolution closes the map of non-working days for 2027 in the community and replaces the initial proposal of each city council once validated by the general directorate. The calendar conditions the drafting of collective agreements, the setting of deadlines in contracts and tenders, the scheduling of exams and competitive examinations, and commercial opening hours, in addition to serving as a reference for the calculation of administrative deadlines at the local level. Any inquiry regarding a specific municipality requires consulting the full annex published in the DOE.
