Extremadura announces grants for educational reinforcement in subsidized schools

The General Directorate of Innovation and Educational Inclusion, under the Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Regional Government of Extremadura, has published the call for grants aimed at financing the development of Competency-Based Educational Reinforcement Programs in the subsidized educational centers of the Autonomous Community for the 2026/2027 academic year. The resolution, signed on July 13, 2026, appears in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 176, dated September 11, 2026, along with its official summary.

The measure is part of the European and national strategy to reduce early school leaving and improve educational equity. It is based on the Council of the European Union Resolution 2021/C/66/01, Organic Law 3/2020 (LOMLOE), and Law 4/2011, of March 7, on Education of Extremadura, which promote inclusive education and equal opportunities. The regulatory bases were approved by the Order of June 21, 2022, of the Department of Education, Science, and Vocational Training, published in the DOE no. 128, of July 5, 2022.

Beneficiaries and Target Students

Beneficiaries may be the private subsidized centers of Extremadura that enroll students in the primary and secondary education stages and have subsidized educational support units. The reinforcement is aimed at students with care, school, socio-educational needs, or specific educational support needs, always with family authorization.

• Privately owned centers with subsidized educational support units.
• Primary and secondary students with educational needs or learning barriers.
• Participation subject to authorization from the father, mother, or legal guardian.

Amount and Financing

The call provides for the hiring of up to twenty-five part-time teachers, with a maximum of one teacher per educational stage in each center. The grant covers all expenses necessary for the implementation of the program.

• €1,500 per month per part-time teacher, for 9 months of the school year.
• €13,500 per selected stage (€4,725 in 2026 and €8,775 in 2027).
• €337,500 total called amount.
• 2026 annuity: €118,125; 2027 annuity: €219,375, allocated to program 222C (Special Education, Artistic Education, and Languages).

Deadline and Selection Criteria

Applications shall be submitted electronically via the General Electronic Registry of the Electronic Office of the Regional Government of Extremadura, addressed to the Service for Inclusion and Attention to Diversity. The deadline is ten business days from the publication of the call and its summary in the DOE.

The grant will be processed through a competitive bidding process, with a maximum of 10 centers in Primary Education and 15 in Secondary Education. The assessment, carried out by a Valuation Commission, will consider the percentage of educationally vulnerable students, repetition rates, and promotion to the 1st year of ESO, with a maximum of 10 points for Early Childhood and Primary Education and 13 for Secondary Education.

The resolution, which will be published in the DOE and on the Community’s Grants Portal, must be issued within a maximum period of three months from the publication of the call. This call reinforces Extremadura’s commitment to reducing early school leaving and improving the results of the most vulnerable students, extending competency reinforcement programs to the subsidized private network (red concertada).
