Extremadura grants 324,321 euros to 18 organizations for chronic patients

The General Directorate of Planning, Training and Quality, under the Department of Health and Dependency Care of the Regional Government of Extremadura, has resolved to grant subsidies for a total amount of 324,321.00 euros to 18 entities representing people affected by chronic diseases and their families. The decision is formalized in the Resolution of September 15, 2026, and published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) No. 184, of September 23, 2026, with the official reference 2026062386. The resolution responds to the applications submitted under the public call approved on June 22, 2026.

The call was approved by the Resolution of June 22, 2026, of the General Secretariat (DOE No. 126, of July 2, 2026), issued under the Order of June 29, 2020, which establishes the regulatory bases for subsidies regarding community participation in health, as amended by the Order of October 21, 2021 (DOE No. 209, of October 21, 2021). The total credit for this line amounts to 324,321.00 euros, charged to the budget application 110020000/G/212A/48000, funds CAG0000001 and TE21005001, from the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for 2026.

The Assessment Commission issued its mandatory report on August 7, 2026, and the Head of the Community Participation in Health Service formulated the proposed resolution on August 14, 2026. The authority to resolve corresponds to the General Secretariat of the Department, although it is delegated to the holder of the General Directorate of Planning, Training and Quality by the Resolution of June 17, 2026 (DOE No. 118, of June 22, 2026); the document appears signed by Silvia Torres Piles.

Distribution of aid among the associative movement

Annex I details the beneficiary entities, the score awarded by the Assessment Commission, the funded project, and the amount granted:

• Extremadura Association of Transplant Recipients (ASEXTRAS) (G06495949), 50 points, psychosocial care for transplant patients: 26,000.00 euros.
• Grouping of Associations for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome “Virgen de Guadalupe” (AGRAFIFEX) (G06736243), 45 points: 22,000.00 euros.
• ÍCARO Extremadura Children’s Oncology Foundation (G06502769), 45 points, comprehensive care for children with cancer: 22,000.00 euros.
• Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) (G28197564), 45 points, empowerment in the face of chronic cancer: 22,000.00 euros.
• Fibromyalgia Association of Extremadura (AFIBROEX) (G10261246), 43 points: 11,614.07 euros.
• Extremadura Oncology Association (AOEX) (G06280879), 42 points, oncological psychological support: 20,000.00 euros.
• Anti-AIDS Citizen Committee of the Extremadura Community (CAEX) (G10179760), 42 points, biopsychosocial support for people with HIV-AIDS: 20,000.00 euros.
• Extremadura Association of Patients with Spondyloarthritis (AEXPE) (G06436885), 41 points: 18,000.00 euros.
• Spain 22q11 Syndrome Association (G86475035), 41 points, “22q in Extremadura”: 16,452.00 euros.

• Association of Laryngectomies of Extremadura (ALEX) (G06146930), 38 points, “Continuing to live is possible”: 6,274.53 euros.

Obligations, payment and justification

Projects must be executed between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and shall focus on information, awareness, training, promotion and prevention of the disease, as well as assistance, rehabilitation and reintegration. Entities must publicize the aid through a poster with minimum dimensions of 297 x 420 mm mentioning “Junta de Extremadura. Department of Health and Dependency Care, project title, subsidized amount, name of the entity”.

• Grants under 3,000 euros are paid following the notification of the resolution; those of an equal or greater amount are paid in two 50% installments.
• The justification for the first 50% must be submitted before November 1, 2026, and the total amount before March 1, 2027.
• The waiver may be submitted within five business days from the publication in the DOE.
• The aid is compatible with other grants, provided it does not exceed the cost of the subsidized activity.
• An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed before the Minister of Health and Dependency Care within one month.

Rejections and Exclusion

Annex II lists six applications rejected because they exceeded the maximum credit amount set in the call: Asociación TDH Tierra de Barros (G0671175, 36 points), Asociación Extremeña de Alérgicos de Alimentos (AEXAAL) (G06593461, 35), Asociación de Enfermos de Parkinson de Almendralejo (AFENPAL) (G06588883, 33), Asociación Extremeña de Enfermos de Huntington (G06407100, 31), Asociación de Enfermos de Esclerosis Múltiple de Cáceres (AEEMCA) (G75541813, 25), and Asociación Parkinson Campiña Sur (G23912264, 22).

Annex III lists a single excluded application: the Asociación de Lupus de Extremadura (G56352958), whose project “Lupus 360” did not reach the minimum score established in the tenth resolution 1.a of the call for applications.

The resolution is published in the DOE, serving as notification, and will also be disseminated on the Grants Portal of the Autonomous Community, the National Grants Database, and the electronic Transparency Portal of the Junta de Extremadura. For the Extremaduran health association movement, the distribution consolidates a stable line of funding that supports psychosocial care, information, and prevention programs aimed at chronic patients and their families throughout the region.
