Extremadura grants 1.24 million in book aid to subsidized schools

The Regional Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of the Junta de Extremadura has granted 1,244,024.62 euros in aid intended to finance the provision of textbooks and school supplies to semi-private (concerted) centers in the autonomous community during the 2026/2027 academic year. The decision was adopted by the General Directorate of the Extremaduran Public Entity for Complementary Educational Services through the Resolution of September 11, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) no. 182, of September 21, 2026, with official reference 2026062352.

The grant is issued under the eighteenth resolution of the Resolution of May 20, 2026, from the Directorate of the Extremaduran Public Entity for Complementary Educational Services, which called for these grants for concerted centers providing the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, Compulsory Education, and Special Education (DOE no. 110, of June 10, 2026). The amount is charged to managing center 130090000, budget application G/222G/47000, fund CAG0000001, and financing program 20130082, entirely for the 2026 fiscal year. The resolution itself specifies that this is a first act of granting.

Distribution by Modalities

The total amount is distributed across two expenditure lines, as detailed in the first resolution:

• Acquisition of textbooks: 1,117,204.62 euros.
• Acquisition of school supplies: 126,820.00 euros.
• Total amount granted: 1,244,024.62 euros.

Beneficiary Centers and Territory

Annexes I and II of the resolution list the center-by-center allocations, with 58 centers in the school supplies annex and 70 in the textbooks annex, distributed between the provinces of Badajoz and Cáceres. Among the highest amounts in the textbooks annex are:

• COL. María Auxiliadora of Mérida (Badajoz): 50,310.00 euros.
• COL. Sagrada Familia of Badajoz: 38,810.00 euros.
• COL. Virgen de Guadalupe of Badajoz: 36,400.00 euros.
• COL. Ntra. Sra. De la Asunción of Badajoz: 35,650.00 euros.
• COL. Ntra. Sra. De Guadalupe of Mérida: 34,460.00 euros.
• COL. Santo Ángel de la Guarda of Badajoz: 33,120.00 euros.

Regarding school supplies, the largest allocations correspond to COL. Santo Ángel de la Guarda of Badajoz (5,500.00 euros), COL. Virgen de Guadalupe of Badajoz (4,900.00 euros), COL. Claret of Don Benito (4,700.00 euros), and COL. Sagrada Familia of Badajoz (4,500.00 euros). The list also includes special education centers, such as COL.E.E. San Marcos of Almendralejo, COL.E.E. Ntra. Sra. De la Luz of Badajoz, COL.E.E. Jenara Carrasco of Llerena, COL.E.E. Ponce de León of Montijo, and COL.E.E. Aratea of Navalmoral de la Mata.

Deadlines and Appeal Process

The resolution, signed in Mérida on September 11, 2026, exhausts all administrative remedies, therefore the following options are available:

• An optional appeal for reversal (recurso potestativo de reposición) before the same body that issued it, within one month from the day following its notification, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.
• A contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Mérida, within two months from the day following the notification.

The text is signed by Gonzalo Blanco Gallego, Director General of the Extremadura Public Entity for Complementary Educational Services, by delegation of the President according to the Resolution of 05/12/2026 (DOE no. 92, of May 15).

The publication of this grant allows families of subsidized schools (centros concertados) in Extremadura to know which schools already have funding for books and materials for the recently started school year, and opens the period for schools or interested parties who deem it appropriate to challenge the allocations before the Administration itself or before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction.
