Extremadura opens 200 euro per month grants for childcare

The Junta de Extremadura has announced grants for families for childcare services for children under three years old in unauthorized private centers, with a budget of 5,868,000 euros for the 2026-2027 period. The call is approved by the resolution of September 9, 2026, of the General Secretariat of the Vice Presidency and Ministry of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, Interior and Emergencies, signed by David González Gil, and is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) number 185, of September 24, 2026, with reference 2026062354.

The regulatory bases are those of Decree 130/2025, of September 16, which established these subsidies and approved their first call (DOE no. 187, of September 29). The measure provides continuity to Decree 59/2024, of July 2, which created grants for childcare services for children aged 2 to 3 provided by private centers not authorized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training.

The procedure is processed under a direct grant regime through an open call, in accordance with Article 29 of Law 6/2011, of March 23, on Subsidies of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, and was authorized by the Governing Council in its session on September 1, 2026. Children born in 2024, 2025, and 2026

The main novelty of this call compared to the 2025 exercise is that it subsidizes childcare services for children born in 2024, 2025, and 2026 who receive these services in private centers not authorized by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. The measure is designed in correspondence with the aid that the department allocates to students in the first, second, and third years of the first cycle of Early Childhood Education.

The eligible period runs from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, for a maximum of 12 monthly payments.

Amount and financing

• Total amount of the call: 5,868,000.00 euros.
• 2026 annuity: 2,934,000.00 euros; 2027 annuity: 2,934,000.00 euros.
• Budgetary application 02 0060000 253A 48000, expenditure project 20240380 “Measures for the reconciliation of personal, family and work life”.
• Maximum limit of 200.00 euros per month per child, including food and without exceeding the actual cost of the service.
• Enrollment fees, place reservation fees, and other benefits unrelated to childcare services are excluded from the subsidizable quota.

Deadlines and submission of applications

• Ordinary period: from the day following the publication of the call and its summary in the DOE until November 5, 2026.
• Extraordinary period: from April 1 to April 30, 2027, for minors who do not yet receive the services nor are expected to receive them.
• Electronic submission through the enabled procedure at the headquarters of the Junta de Extremadura (https://www.juntaex.es/w/0724725).
• Resolution within a maximum period of three months from the application, with negative administrative silence.
• Partial justification of 50% before April 30, 2027 (ordinary period) or June 30, 2027 (extraordinary); final justification before September 30, 2027.

Beneficiaries and requirements

• Mothers, fathers, or legal guardians of the minor receiving the care services, with family residence in Extremadura or status as an Extremaduran.
• Persons with guardianship functions for the purposes of foster care, adoption, or equivalent situations may also be beneficiaries.
• The center must be a non-authorized private center, located in Extremadura, legally constituted, and possess an opening license or prior communication of activity.
• Only one person may be a beneficiary per minor, except in cases of separation or divorce with shared expenses, in which two applications shall be submitted.

The call progressively expands public support for Extremaduran families with young children and strengthens the care network outside the formal education system, a field in which numerous private centers operate. For families with minors born between 2024 and 2026, the aid can cover up to 200 euros per month of the fee throughout the school year, provided that the application is submitted within the established deadlines.
