Extremadura opens public hearing for grants for municipal buildings
Por FactBox Admin

The Vice Presidency and Ministry of Presidency, Coordination of Government Action, Interior and Emergencies of the Junta de Extremadura has agreed to open the hearing and public information process for the draft decree establishing the regulatory bases for subsidies destined for municipalities and smaller local entities for the acquisition of equipment and improvement of municipal public buildings, and which approves the first call for applications. This is set out in the Resolution of September 7, 2026, of the General Secretariat, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 178, of September 15, 2026 (reference 2026062340).
The period to examine the text and submit allegations or suggestions is seven business days from the day following the publication of the resolution in the official gazette. The processing follows the abbreviated procedure, justified by the prior exposure of the text for previous consultation and the urgency of approving the first call.
An urgent regulatory and budgetary framework
The new line of aid will be financed with the Autonomous Community’s own funds, whose credits were allocated in Law 2/2026, of August 3, on the General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (DOE no. 149, of August 4). The resolution emphasizes the narrow time window to execute these credits in the current budgetary year; therefore, the imminent publication of the decree of bases and the call for applications is essential so that the beneficiary local entities can meet the deadlines and so that the aid can be resolved and paid within the year.
The process is based on Article 66.3 of Law 1/2002, of February 28, on the Government and Administration of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, and Article 133 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, as well as Articles 7 and 40 of Law 4/2013, of May 21, on Open Government of Extremadura.
How to participate in the process
Any natural or legal person may examine the draft decree and formulate allegations or suggestions through the means determined by Law 39/2015 or via the email address dgal.presidencia@juntaex.es. The text will be available through two channels:
- At the offices of the General Directorate of Local Administration of the Ministry of Presidency, Interior and Local Administration, at Paseo de Roma, s/n, Module E, “Narges Mohammandi” Building, 1st floor, in Mérida (Badajoz), from 10:00 to 14:00 hours during the deadline period.
- On the Transparency Portal of the Junta de Extremadura, at the address https://www.juntaex.es/transparencia.
The resolution was signed in Mérida on September 7, 2026, by the Secretary General, David González Gil.
Impact for Extremaduran city councils
This new line of grants represents a direct opportunity for the region’s municipalities and smaller local entities, which will be able to finance both the acquisition of equipment and the improvement of their public buildings using the Autonomous Community’s own funds. The speed of the process, with a first call already approved within the draft decree itself, aims for the grants to be resolved and paid within the current budget year, so that city councils can execute their actions without delays.
