Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training of the Xunta de Galicia has agreed to extinguish the authorization of the private foreign center (CPREX) Trisquel Compostela International School, in Santiago de Compostela, due to the cessation of its teaching activities. The decision was adopted through the Order of September 7, 2026, signed by the counselor Román Rodríguez González, and published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 176, on September 16, 2026, on page 48923.
The extinction was processed at the request of the center’s own ownership, which requested the cessation of teaching activities. The file was resolved in accordance with article 17.1 of Decree 133/1995, of May 10, on the authorization of private teaching centers to provide non-university general regime education, and the Order of September 20, 1995 that develops it, in relation to the third additional provision of Royal Decree 806/1993, of May 28, on the regime of foreign teaching centers in Spain.
A center of the United States educational system
The Trisquel Compostela International School was authorized to provide education from the educational system of the United States of America to Spanish and foreign students, with a total capacity of 130 school places distributed across three stages:
- Pre-School Section (early childhood education)
- Elementary Section (primary education)
- Secondary Section (secondary education)
The center, identified with the code 15033058, thus ceases its educational offer, which directly affects families with students enrolled in the US educational system in Santiago de Compostela.
Registration in the Registry of Centers
The extinction of the authorization will lead to the corresponding registration in the Registry of Centers of the Autonomous Community of Galicia, as established in article 2 of the order. The proposal originated from the General Directorate of Centers and Human Resources of the department.
Appeal deadlines and entry into force
The order, which exhausts the administrative route, provides two ways of challenge for interested parties:
- Optional appeal for reversal before the department, within one month from the day following its publication in the DOG.
- Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia, within two months from the same date.
The order entered into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Galicia, that is, September 17, 2026.
The closure of the Trisquel Compostela International School represents the disappearance of a differentiated educational offer in Galicia, focused on the US curriculum, and forces affected families to seek alternatives for the continuity of students’ studies in a foreign educational system.
