Expropiación de fincas en Adeje por la línea eléctrica de 66 kV Chío-Los Olivos

The General Directorate of Energy of the Regional Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has called for the drawing up of records prior to the occupation of the estates affected by the 66 kV Chío-Los Olivos power line, in the municipality of Adeje (Tenerife). The appointment will take place on October 8, 2026, at the premises assigned by the Adeje City Council, according to the schedule established for each affected party. The announcement, signed on August 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 180, of September 8, 2026, under reference 3190.

The action is part of file AT-25/004, corresponding to the project “Revised execution project of the 66 kV double circuit Chío-Los Olivos overhead-underground electrical energy transmission line.” Through the Resolution of the General Directorate of Energy No. 663/2026, of April 24, administrative authorization was granted and, specifically, the public utility of the installation was declared.

In accordance with Article 56 of Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and Articles 140 et seq. of Royal Decree 1955/2000, the declaration of public utility implies the need for the occupation of assets and the urgent occupation thereof, for the purposes of Article 52 of the Law on Compulsory Expropriation, of December 16, 1954. In the expropriation file, the company Red Eléctrica, S.A.U. assumes the status of beneficiary entity.

Affected Estates and Owners

The specific and individualized list of assets and rights requiring expropriation, included in the annex of the announcement, affects several plots of the overhead and underground sections of the line, with rights-of-way, temporary occupations of six months, supports (such as T-42), and splice chambers (such as ATD-1). Among the owners are:

  • Betancor Curbelo, Bosch Betancor, Betancor Burgoyne, and Curbelo Doreste
  • Bravo de Laguna Betancor, Meenen Jacobs, Curbelo Acosta, and Molina Betancor
  • Betancor Pastor and Betancor Curbelo Pino
  • The Adeje City Council

The affected areas include overhead and underground electrical energy rights-of-way, security zones, temporary occupations, and access to splice chambers, with sizes ranging from dozens to over 1,600 m² in some plots.

Appearance and Allegations

Interested parties and rights holders must appear in person or be represented by duly authorized persons, providing their National Identity Document, documents proving their ownership, and the most recent receipt of the Property Tax (IBI); they may be accompanied, at their own expense, by an expert and a notary. If, due to force majeure, the survey cannot be carried out, it will be rescheduled for the first following business day at the same time.

Pursuant to Article 56.2 of the Regulations of the Compulsory Expropriation Law, holders may submit any allegations they deem appropriate to the General Directorate of Energy (Administrative Coordination Service), solely for the purpose of correcting possible errors in the list of assets and rights. The announcement will be notified to the Adeje City Council and to interested parties with a known address; its publication in the Official State Gazette, the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, the Official Gazette of the Province, the municipal notice board, and at least two provincial newspapers shall serve as notification to unknown interested parties or those with an unknown address.

Relevance for readers

The call represents a decisive step for the execution of key electrical infrastructure in the south of Tenerife, which will reinforce the supply in the Adeje area. Affected owners must attend the appointment on October 8 with the required documentation, as, once the formalities of Article 52 of the Compulsory Expropriation Law have been completed, the occupation and taking of possession of the properties listed in the annex will proceed.
