Por FactBox Admin

The call for grants for the digitalization of the food and wood chain has been resolved through the resolution signed on September 21 by Raúl Pérez Iracheta, Vice-Minister of Food and Rural Development of the Basque Government. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country on October 15, 2026 (issue 197), with official reference 2026/4314. Out of 204 applications submitted, 173 were approved and 15 were denied.
Origin and budget of the call
The grants were called under the protection of the Order of September 9, 2025; this order belongs to the Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture, and Fisheries, and its bases were published on September 17, 2025, in issue 176 of the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. The call has three funding lines: digitalization of the food industry, the wood chain, and virtual fencing projects for livestock.
The resolution distributes a total of 1,479,234.69 euros, charged to the budgets of the Basque Autonomous Community. The amount was divided among the three lines, and according to base 6.2 of the bases, funds not exhausted in lines 1 and 3 were redirected to line 2.
- Line 1: 151,720.45 euros, over a subsidizable investment of 332,359.25 euros.
- Line 2: 852,462.18 euros, over an investment of 2,787,825.07 euros.
- Line 3: 475,052.06 euros, over an investment of 674,477.10 euros.
173 beneficiaries
Among the 173 beneficiaries listed in Annex II, the first is Adarrazpi, S.C. (file 00034-DIG2025-50, project for a SIRA reader for the breeding program) and the last is Amandine Coppens (00203-DIG2025-50, virtual fencing shepherding in the Cantabrian mountain range). Both large and small companies are among the beneficiaries:
- Casa Eceiza, S.L., digitalization and robotization project for the palletizing line (215,733.19 euros).
- Frigoríficos de Basauri, Sociedad Limitada, purchase of intelligent robots and printing machines (183,558.75 euros).
- Carnes Ibéricas del Norte, S.L., expansion of the ERP KAIS system (78,318.00 euros).
- Aragonesa de Piensos, S.A., automation of the chopping and grinding process (70,293.75 euros).
- Frutas Zelaia, S.L., 4.0 management platform (55,000.00 euros).

In line 3, livestock farms have financed virtual fencing collars and GPS devices, including the cases of beneficiaries Iñaki Oraa Arenaza, Baztarrika, E.Z., Eguzkiborda, E.Z. and Mikel Galarza Arrue.
15 denied applications
Annex III states that 15 applications were denied for various reasons:
- Employers’ association of carpenters and similar industries of Guipúzcoa (00012-DIG2025-50): not registered in the headings of Annex III of the IAE.
- Eroski, S. Coop. (00090-DIG2025-50): the selection of the supplier company was not properly justified, according to article 30.3 of Law 20/2023 and base 5.4 of the call.
- Carpintería Zur-Eder, S.L. and Karakate, S.A.: budgetary unavailability.
- Tudefrigo, S.L. and Herederos de Maderas Laorden, S.L.: they do not have an establishment in the Registry of Agri-food Industries of the Basque Country.
- Beigorri, S. Coop., Joseba Igartua Urzelai and Eduardo Samaniego Garrosa: they did not achieve the minimum score.
- Gloria Olavarria Sautua: has exceeded the limit of the aid granted by the Provincial Council.
Withdrawals and appeal
16 files are listed in Annex IV, where applicants submitted a request for withdrawal or, since they did not respond to the requests for correction, received an ex officio withdrawal resolution. On the other hand, the resolution does not exhaust the administrative route: interested parties may file an appeal for reversal before the Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, within one month from the day following the receipt of the notification, according to articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015.
The grants are direct financing for companies in the sector, and the execution and justification of digitalization projects are regulated in bases 16, 17, and 18. The call, therefore, opens the way for the technological modernization of the food and wood chain, but the denials show that administrative requirements and compatibility limits are strictly applied.
