Esports calls for two permanent positions: sports doctor and maintenance

Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Sports has announced a new entry selection process, through a competitive examination system (concurs oposició), to fill two permanent labor staff positions: one for a sports medicine doctor (group A1) and one for a 1st class maintenance official (group D1). The call, signed by the general secretary Abel García Marín, is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) no. 9737, of August 25, 2026, with the reference CVE-DOGC-A-26233018-2026.

The call (no. ES/L002/26) is part of the Generalitat’s public employment offer for 2026, approved by Agreement GOV/61/2026, of March 24 (DOGC no. 9633). It is formalized by the Department of Sports in application of article 78 of Law 11/2026, of July 9, which assumes the purposes, objectives, competencies, and functions of the Catalan Sports Council, as well as its human and material resources, within the framework of the absorption of this body.

Two positions, two profiles

The selection process aims to fill two positions under the permanent labor staff regime, with the following characteristics:

  • Doctor-sports medicine, group A1: university degree in medicine and a specialty in Physical Education and Sports medicine.
  • 1st class maintenance official, group D1: secondary education graduate, school graduate, technician from intermediate-level vocational training cycles or equivalent.

For the doctor position, a proficiency level of Catalan (C1) and Spanish (C1) is required; for the maintenance official position, level B1 in both languages. The functions of the doctor position include medical check-ups for athletes of the Sports Technicalization Plan of Catalonia, the biological assessment of training programs for high-performance athletes, and medical assistance for scholarship holders at the Joaquim Blume Athletes’ Residence.

Selection process and fees

The system is a competitive examination, with an eliminatory examination phase and a competition phase that assesses merits and capacities. The minimum score to pass the examination phase is 25 points for the A1 position and 17.5 points for the D1; the competition phase can add up to 50 points (A1) and 65 points (D1).

The participation fee is 72.05 euros for the doctor position and 31.05 euros for the maintenance official position, with discounts of 30% and 50% for single-parent families, large families, and victims of gender-based violence, and an exemption for unemployed persons without benefits.

Deadline and submission of applications

Applications must be submitted within 10 business days starting from the day after the publication of the call in the DOGC, exclusively through the form enabled on the Generalitat’s Procedures portal (tramits.gencat.cat). Once the deadline has ended, the General Secretariat of the Department of Sports will issue, within a maximum of one month, the resolution with the provisional list of admitted and excluded persons.

The call represents another step in the integration of the staff of the Catalan Sports Council into the structure of the Department of Sports, and opens an opportunity for stable access to public service for sports healthcare professionals and technical maintenance staff, at a time when the Catalan sports administration is reorganizing its human resources.
