Emakunde-Basque Institute for Women has approved the call for grants for students for the Diploma in Intervention in Sexual Violence to be offered at the University of Deusto during the 2026-2027 academic year. The call was approved by the Resolution of Miren Elgarresta Larrabide, Director of Emakunde, dated September 9, 2026, and was published in the BOPV official gazette, issue number 188, on October 1, 2026, with official reference 2026/4068. The purpose of the grants is to finance the training of professionals in this field.

Emakunde and the University of Deusto began their collaboration in 2003 with the co-financing of master’s and expert degrees in the field of violence against women. After those degrees disappeared, the two organizations renewed the agreement to co-finance the newly created Diploma in Intervention in Sexual Violence.

The call is based on article 57.5 of Legislative Decree 1/2023, which establishes that public administrations must promote the training of professionals involved in the prevention of gender-based violence and assistance to victims. Likewise, it follows what is included in Emakunde’s Strategic Grant Plan (2024-2027) approved by the Resolution of October 21, 2024.

Amount and beneficiaries

  • Budget credit: a total of 29,244 euros.
  • Allocation procedure: non-competitive tender, with financial resources distributed proportionally and in equal parts among those who meet the requirements.
  • Each grant may cover the full cost of enrollment, but it shall never exceed the cost of enrollment.

Applicants must have had an administrative residence in the Basque Autonomous Community for at least one year prior to the date of submitting the request, and must be fully enrolled in the Diploma in Intervention in Sexual Violence; part-time enrollment will not be accepted. Furthermore, they must be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations, as well as obligations regarding the reimbursement of grants.

Diploma: six modules and 600 hours

The diploma is delivered in virtual mode, consists of 24 ECTS credits and 600 hours, and is structured into six modules:

  • Module I: Context of the phenomenon of sexual violence.
  • Module II: Forms of sexual violence.
  • Module III: Therapeutic approach to trauma and crisis situations.
  • Module IV: Psychosocial and institutional intervention in the field of sexual violence.
  • Module V: Sexual cyberviolence against female bodies.
  • Module VI: Prevention and detection of sexual violence.

The main objective of the program is to qualify multidisciplinary professionals to design, plan, execute, and evaluate psychosocial, educational, socio-sanitary, and legal interventions in a coordinated and integral manner.

Deadlines and processing

  • Application period: starts on the working day following its publication in the BOPV official gazette and ends on October 30, 2026.
  • Submission: electronically or in person, at the Zuzenean service offices (Gran Vía 85, Bilbao; Andía 13, Donostia; Ramiro de Maeztu 10, Vitoria-Gasteiz) and at the General Registry of Emakunde (Manuel Iradier street 36, Vitoria-Gasteiz).
  • Maximum period for resolution and notification: six months, counting from the day following its publication.

Along with the application, a copy of the enrollment at the University of Deusto, an identity document, a certificate of tax and Social Security obligations, and a census certificate of one year of seniority in the Basque Autonomous Community must be submitted.

Payment and obligations

Payment will be made in two installments: the first 75% of the grant, and the second remaining 25%, after the University of Deusto sends the follow-up report regarding the first six months. If the diploma is not obtained or there is no appropriate academic performance, the amount received must be returned, together with late-payment interest.

Against the resolution, a request for review may be filed within one month, or an administrative appeal within two months, counting from the day following its publication.

The call aims to ensure the training of professionals working in the field of sexual violence, and Emakunde and the University of Deusto have a collaboration history of more than twenty years in this area. Since the grants can cover the full cost of enrollment, the call will have a direct impact on the quality of intervention services in this field.
