Elciego subsidizes 20% of termite treatment up to 600 euros
Por FactBox Admin

The Elciego City Council has opened the call for financial aid to combat termites in urban properties within the municipality, which will cover 20% of the treatment cost up to a maximum of 600 euros per building or dwelling. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) number 120, dated October 19, 2026, with the identifier BDNS 934476, and the deadline for submitting applications is two months.
The measure is based on the municipal ordinance regulating these grants, which was definitively approved and published in full in BOTHA number 115, dated October 7, 2026, after the city council Plenary initially approved it in an ordinary session on July 31, 2026, and the public exhibition announcement appeared in BOTHA number 91, dated August 12, 2026, without any claims or allegations being filed.
The council justifies the aid line based on the risk posed by the pest: termites cause structural damage to buildings and urban furniture and can generate significant economic losses. According to the explanatory memorandum of the ordinance, it has been confirmed that several buildings in Elciego are affected by these xylophages.
Up to 600 euros per registered building or dwelling
The subsidy covers 20% of the cost of treatments carried out in urban properties in the municipality to combat these xylophages, with a cap of 600 euros. One grant is awarded per urban building and, when the use of the property is residential, the subsidy is granted to each registered housing unit.
The planned allocation for 2026 is 25,000 euros, chargeable to the budget application 1522 48 001 Aid for termite treatment and its linking fund. If the credit does not allow for all applications meeting the requirements to be met, the city council will process a budget modification to increase the initial amount by up to 100% and, once that credit is exhausted, will prorate the total available amount.
Treatments from 2023 to 2026 and access requirements
Those who meet the requirements of Article 2 of the ordinance may apply for the aid. The eligible activity is to contract and carry out the treatment with specialized companies during 2026 or to have carried it out in the three previous years, namely, in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
The requirements are:
- To be the owner, holder of a right, or user of the dwelling affected by termites.
- Not to have received this subsidy for the same building in the previous two years.
- Not to be subject to the prohibitions of Article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies Law.
- To be up to date with the General Social Security Treasury, the Provincial Treasury of Álava, and the municipal treasury.
General Registry, electronic office, and two-month deadline
Applications are submitted at the General Registry of the Elciego City Council, at Plaza Mayor Luis Aldazabal number 1, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours, or electronically via the municipal electronic office and on the website www.elciego.es. The deadline is two months from the day following the publication of the call in the BOTHA.
The required documentation includes:
- Application and signed sworn statement (Annex I).
- Copy of the applicant’s DNI or CIF.
- Responsible declaration of being up to date with Social Security, the Provincial Treasury of Álava, and the municipal treasury.
- Third-party registration form stamped by the banking entity.
- Invoice for the treatment issued by a company specialized in pest control.
- Proof of payment of the invoices.
Resolution within two months and expenditure control
The mayor is the competent body to resolve, within a maximum period of two months from the end of the application period, and notification will be made individually to the interested parties. Payment is made by bank transfer to the account indicated in the third-party registration form.
The grants are compatible with others from public administrations or private entities for the same purpose, within the limits set in the ordinance, and their control corresponds to the Basque Court of Public Accounts. Failure to comply with the obligations may lead to the reimbursement of the amounts received, with late payment interest, and to the sanctioning regime of Law 38/2003.
The call comes after the city council has confirmed the presence of termites in several buildings in the urban center, so the grant line seeks to involve owners in treatments whose cost can be high. With 25,000 euros allocated and a maximum of 600 euros per building or dwelling, the budgetary margin allows for a large number of applications to be addressed, although the council plans to increase the credit if demand exceeds it.
