Elche de la Sierra corrects the requirements for a Local Police officer position

The City Council of Elche de la Sierra has approved the corrected wording of the rules for the selection process convened by competitive examination (concurso-oposición) to fill, through the internal promotion system, one career civil servant position as an officer of the Local Police Corps. The decision was adopted via Mayoral Resolution No. 259, dated July 24, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete number 101, dated August 31, 2026, in the third section of Local Administration.

The correction is in response to a material error detected in the original rules, which had been published in the BOP of Albacete number 143, dated December 10, 2025, following their approval by agreement of the Governing Board in the session of November 17, 2025. With the new wording, the full text that will govern the call is restored.

Regulatory Framework and Purpose of the Call

The convened position is within the Basic Scale, Officer category, of the Local Police Corps, classified in subgroup C-1 of article 76 of Legislative Royal Decree 5/2015, of October 30, which approves the revised text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee. The public employment offer was published in the BOP of Albacete number 104, dated September 8, 2025.

The process is governed by Law 8/2002, of May 23, on the Coordination of Local Police of Castilla-La Mancha, Decree 110/2006, of October 17, Law 4/2011, of March 10, on Public Employment of Castilla-La Mancha, and Royal Decree 364/1995, of March 10, among other regulations.

Requirements and Submission of Applications

To be admitted, applicants must meet, among others, the following requirements:

• Hold Spanish nationality and possess a High School diploma (Bachiller), Vocational Training Technician degree or equivalent, or prove five years of seniority as a police officer with a specific course from the Citizen Protection School of Castilla-La Mancha, or ten years as a police officer.
• Have served for at least two years as a career civil servant in the Police category at the City Council of Elche de la Sierra.
• Possess driving licenses of classes A or A2 and B, have no criminal record for intentional crimes, and not be in secondary activity.

Applications shall be addressed to the Mayor-Presidency and may be submitted at the municipal offices, through the electronic office, or via the channels established by Law 39/2015, of October 1. The deadline will be twenty business days counting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette.

Selection System and Scoring Scale

Selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system (concurso-oposición), consisting of an examination phase, a merit phase, and a selective course. The examination phase consists of three tests:

• Physical fitness (maximum 10 points), non-eliminatory, consisting of a 60-meter sprint, a 1,000-meter endurance run, long jump, and medicine ball throw.
• Practical cases (maximum 50 points), eliminatory, with a minimum of 25 points required to pass.
• Psychotechnical test, graded as fit or unfit, consisting of intelligence and personality tests.

In the competition phase, seniority (up to 5 points), training courses in the security area (up to 5 points), academic degrees (up to 3 points), and decorations, distinctions, and commendations (up to 2 points) will be valued. Those who pass the process must complete a selective course at the Citizen Protection School of Castilla-La Mancha before their appointment as career civil servants.

Relevance of the call

The correctness of the rules guarantees the legal certainty of the process and allows the municipality’s officers to opt for internal promotion to the category of official, a key step for professional career progression within the force. The call, which exhausts administrative remedies, may be appealed for reversal within one month or before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Albacete within two months.
