Por FactBox Admin

El Tribunal Superior de Castilla-La Mancha nombra tres jueces de paz

The Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha has appointed three justices of the peace in the province of Albacete: one titular justice for Masegoso, and one titular and one substitute justice for Villavaliente. The agreement, adopted on October 9, 2026, is made public by edict in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete number 128, corresponding to Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the fourth section. The appointees have twenty calendar days from the date of publication to take office.

The appointment is based on Regulation number 3/1995, of June 7, published in the Official State Gazette on July 13, 1995, whose article 20 regulates the filling of these positions, and on articles 101.2 and 101.4 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary. The Governing Chamber acts in commission and in compliance with the agreement adopted by the Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary on December 1, 1995.

The edict is signed by the Government Secretary of the high court, Sigfrido Mangas Morales, and is dated in Albacete on October 15, 2026, under official reference 28.444, which appears on page 38 of the provincial gazette.

The three agreed appointments

The agreement details the three designations for municipalities in the province of Albacete, with the identification of each person and the last four digits of their national identity document:

  • Miguel Garví Romero, titular justice of the peace of Masegoso (DNI ****2357).
  • Rosalía Egidos Tolosa, titular justice of the peace of Villavaliente (DNI ****5209).
  • Plácida Mora Gómez, substitute justice of the peace of Villavaliente (DNI ****9780).

Therefore, there are two titular positions and one substitute position, distributed between two municipalities. Villavaliente concentrates two of the three positions, while Masegoso covers only the titular position.

Taking office within twenty days and four-year mandate

The three appointees must take office within twenty calendar days following the date of publication of the appointment in the provincial gazette. The procedure requires an oath or promise before the President of the Court of First Instance of the corresponding Judicial District.

The mandate has a duration of four years, computed from the date of publication of the appointment in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete. The edict specifies that the appointed person is not required to take an oath or promise if they have already done so previously for the same position.

Administrative appeal before the General Council of the Judiciary

An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the appointment agreement within a period of one month, counted from the day following the notification or publication, before the Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary.

The appeal must be filed based on the grounds and subject to the formalities established by Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The appointment of justices of the peace is the basic component of the judicial service in municipalities without their own court: these individuals assume civil registry functions and provide initial judicial assistance in small towns, where their absence or interim status delays everyday procedures for residents. Therefore, the possession calendar is a relevant piece of data, as it marks the actual moment when the positions are filled and the start of the four-year term count. Furthermore, for those aspiring to these positions, the edict clarifies the only available channel for challenge and its deadline.
