El Tajo abonará intereses de demora a diez fincas expropiadas en Mantiel

The Tagus Hydrographic Confederation has announced the payment of compensation in the form of late-payment interest to the owners of assets and rights of ten estates in the municipality of Mantiel affected by the compulsory expropriation proceedings for the water supply works for the future association of municipalities adjacent to the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara number 202, corresponding to Thursday, October 22, 2026, within the State Administration section. The resolution is issued for the purposes provided for in Article 49 of the Compulsory Expropriation Regulations.

Ministerial authorization and original file

The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge signed on October 16, 2026, the proposal for authorization, commitment, recognition of obligation, and payment that allows these compensations to be paid. The file covering the payment is that of compulsory expropriation via the urgency procedure motivated by the works of the “Modified No. 1 of the Water Supply Project for the future Association of municipalities adjacent to the Entrepeñas and Buendía reservoirs (Guadalajara and Cuenca)”, with key 03.399.001/2121.

The announcement bears the signature of the Secretary General of the Confederation, Álvaro Agustín de Torres Suárez, and is dated in Madrid on October 20, 2026. The publication in the provincial gazette serves as notification to the interested parties who could not be located individually.

How to collect and what happens if there is no transfer

Payment will be made via bank transfer to the account designated by the interested parties. Amounts that cannot be paid through this method will be deposited in the General Deposit Fund (Caja General de Depósitos) at the disposal of the owners. Once the owners rectify the circumstance that led to the deposit, the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation will carry out the appropriate procedures to effect the payment.

One more installment within a series of payments

This announcement is added to other resolutions from the same case file published in the provincial bulletin during the previous weeks. On October 21, 2026, BOP number 201 included a list of sixteen properties in Mantiel; on October 9, in number 193, plots in Mantiel and Pareja were detailed; and on October 5, in number 189, another batch authorized on September 27 was published. In all cases, these concern late payment interest and not fair market valuations, which indicates that the principal payment had already been recognized and what is now being settled is the delay in paying it.

The announcement is of direct relevance to the owners of these ten plots in Mantiel, who must verify their inclusion in the list and have a bank account designated to receive the amount; otherwise, the money will remain deposited in the Caja General de Depósitos (General Deposit Fund) until the circumstance that prevented the transfer is proven. Furthermore, publication in the official bulletin is the formal means by which the Administration considers the communication to the affected parties to be fulfilled.
