The SEXPE opens the 2026 call for scholarships for unemployed persons in training

The Extremadura Public Employment Service (SEXPE) has approved the 2026 call for scholarships and grants intended for unemployed workers participating in training actions and, where applicable, non-labor professional internships included in its training offer. The measure, signed on July 29, 2026, by the Secretary General of the organization, Nicolás Macías Manzanedo, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 171, dated September 3, 2026, with the official reference 2026062012.

The call is part of the transformation of the Vocational Training system promoted by Organic Law 3/2022, of March 31, and its regulatory development through Royal Decree 659/2023, of July 18, which advocates for the dual nature of training. At the regional level, the regulatory bases are contained in the Order of March 27, 2023 (DOE no. 62), which establishes the processing of these scholarships under a direct grant regime through an open call.

Budget and financing

The total amount initially planned amounts to 2,000,000 euros, with funding sourced from State Transfers, distributed across two lines:

• 1,500,000 euros for scholarships and grants linked to training actions leading to professional certificates (annual amounts of €1,050,000 in 2026 and €450,000 in 2027).
• 500,000 euros for training actions not leading to professional certificates and their associated internships (€350,000 in 2026 and €150,000 in 2027).

The amount may be increased based on budget availability, following the publication of the corresponding announcement in the Official Gazette of Extremadura and on the Grants Portal of the Autonomous Community.

Scholarships and grants

Beneficiaries may include unemployed persons registered with the SEXPE, including agricultural workers, as well as young people registered in the National Youth Guarantee System File. The maximum amounts set in Annex I of the resolution are:

• Disability scholarship: 9 euros per day of attendance.
• Scholarship for women victims of gender-based violence: 10 euros per school day.
• Urban public transport: 1.5 euros per day; for interurban transport, the cost of the ticket.
• Transport in own vehicle: 0.19 euros per kilometer, up to 22 euros per school day.
• Maintenance/Meals: 12 euros per school day.
• Accommodation and maintenance: up to 50 euros per calendar day, and up to 158.40 euros for transnational actions.
• Work-life balance: 75% of the daily IPREM per day of attendance.

Scholarships may be increased by up to 50% when the beneficiaries belong to groups with greater insertion difficulties, according to a reasoned report from the SEXPE.

Deadlines and submission

Applications must be submitted within fifteen business days from the day following the completion of the training action or non-labor professional internships; in the event of withdrawal due to illness or employment, the period is calculated from the effective date of the withdrawal. The call for applications will be valid for one year from its publication, and applications may be processed through the General Electronic Registry of the Junta de Extremadura or at the offices of the Single Registry System. Students in courses of more than 400 hours or from SEXPE training centers may request advance payments.

The call, whose summaries are published under references 2026062244 and 2026062245 (BDNS identifiers 927026 and 927027), represents direct support for thousands of unemployed people in Extremadura seeking qualification, by guaranteeing them financial support for transport, maintenance, accommodation, and work-life balance during their training.
