SESPA announces a call for the head of robotic systems maintenance

The Management of Health Area II Center-Southwest of the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias (SESPA) has announced the filling, through a specific merit-based competition procedure, of the position of Group Leader: Mechanical Maintenance of Robotic Systems, vacant in the Engineering and Maintenance Service. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) number 171, dated September 3, 2026, by resolution of August 18, 2026 (reference 2026-07169).

The position, of a statutory nature and Destination Supplement level 19, is part of the organic staff of Health Area II Center-Southwest. The call is based on Article 91 of Law 7/2019, of March 29, on Health of the Principality of Asturias, and Decree 87/2014, of October 8, which regulates the provision systems for singularized positions and middle management of SESPA, as amended by Decree 49/2019, of June 21.

Position Profile and Functions

The applicant must be a professional with knowledge in the management, operation, and maintenance of robotic systems for the management, storage, and dispensing of medications, with the ability to adapt to new demands and experience in teamwork. Their main functions include:

• Leading tasks oriented toward efficiency and increasing the life cycle of the robotic system of the Pharmacy warehouse at the Vital Álvarez Buylla Hospital of Mieres (HVAB).
• Managing the day-to-day operation of the system at the maintenance software level and coordinating the recording of preventive maintenance activities.
• Controlling and resolving incidents, keeping the spare parts warehouse updated, and supervising technical-legal maintenance.
• Acting as the interlocutor with the company contracted for scheduled preventive maintenance.

Requirements and Applications

To participate, it is necessary to meet the following requirements:

• Hold the status of permanent statutory personnel in the National Health System.
• Possess sufficient academic qualifications for classification groups C1 (C) or C2 (D).
• Meet the general requirements of nationality, functional capacity, age, and non-separation from service, as well as not having been convicted of crimes against sexual freedom and indemnity.

Applications, addressed to the Director of Healthcare and Territorial Coordination of Mieres, shall preferably be submitted to the Registry of the convening Health Area. The deadline is one month from the day following the publication in the BOPA, and must be accompanied by a professional curriculum vitae and a management report of up to 20 pages.

Selection and Appointment

Suitability will be assessed by a Evaluation Committee composed of a president, three members, and a secretary. The process consists of two phases: the evaluation of the curriculum vitae and the assessment of the proposal, which may be defended before the committee for a maximum of thirty minutes. To be awarded the position, a minimum score of 50 points in total and 20 out of 40 on the proposal is required; the call for applications may be declared void.

The successful candidate will hold the position for an initial period of five years, after which they will be evaluated for extension or removal in accordance with Decree 87/2014. The award resolution will be published in the BOPA, on the center’s notice boards, and on the health portal www.astursalud.es.

The call presents a significant opportunity for non-healthcare technical staff from groups C1 and C2 of the Asturian public health system, in a field of increasing technicalization such as the robotic management of hospital pharmacy. The position reinforces SESPA’s commitment to the specialization of its middle management in the maintenance of critical healthcare infrastructures.
