El Sescam nombra ocho neurólogos fijos y adjudica plazas en seis hospitales

The Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (Sescam) has appointed permanent statutory personnel in the category of Neurology Area Specialist Physician for the eight individuals who passed the open access selection process convened last year, awarding them the corresponding positions. The decision was adopted by the General Directorate of Human Resources and Transformation through the Resolution of 10/27/2026, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) No. 212, of November 5, 2026, with official reference 2026/7861.

The selection process comes to an end

The procedure began with the Resolution of 06/23/2025 of the aforementioned General Directorate, published in DOCM No. 123, of June 30, 2025, which convened the entry via the general open access system, through a competitive examination process, into the Neurology category of Sescam’s health institutions. Once the tests were completed, the Resolution of 09/21/2026 (DOCM No. 189, of October 1, 2026) approved the list of offered positions and established the procedure for successful candidates to choose their destination.

With the offer and allocation process closed, and in accordance with the ninth.7 base of the call, the appointment now proceeds with the express indication of the position assigned to each person. The resolution is issued using the powers delegated by section 6.5 of the Resolution of 11/20/2023, of the Sescam Management-Directorate, on the delegation of powers (DOCM No. 233, of December 5, 2023), and the document is signed by the general director, Íñigo Cortázar Neira.

Eight destinations in specialized care

All awarded positions correspond to the specialized care sector and, according to article 32.3 of Law 55/2003, of December 16, of the Framework Statute of statutory personnel of health services, they are assigned to the corresponding health institution as Health Area positions. The distribution is as follows:

  • Álvaro Abelardo Sánchez Larsen: Integrated Care Management of Albacete (Albacete Health Area).
  • Cristian Ángel Alcahut Rodríguez: Integrated Care Management of Villarrobledo (Albacete).
  • Laura Rojas Bartolomé: Integrated Care Management of Hellín (Albacete).
  • José Antonio del Valle Pérez: Integrated Care Management of Hellín (Albacete).
  • María Fernández Valiente: Integrated Care Management of Almansa (Albacete).
  • Blanca Serrano Serrano: Integrated Care Management of Almansa (Albacete).
  • Ana Camacho Nieto: Integrated Care Management of Talavera (Talavera de la Reina Health Area).
  • Nerea García Alvarado: Specialized Care Management of Toledo (Toledo Health Area).

Six of the eight appointments are concentrated in the province of Albacete, while the other two reinforce the neurology services of Talavera de la Reina and the regional capital.

One-month deadline and possible substitutions

The appointed individuals must take possession of the awarded position within one month starting from the day following the publication of the resolution in the DOCM, at the management center to which the position is assigned. Anyone who does not join within that period forfeits their right, except in cases of duly accredited impossibility assessed by the General Directorate of Human Resources and Transformation, a circumstance that must be communicated to the destination center and the General Directorate itself before the possession period expires.

The resolution also provides that, if any approved person does not take possession due to resignation or other causes attributable to them, the General Directorate may appoint and award those positions to those appearing in the list of applicants by order of score who had not obtained a position among those requested, respecting the total score order and the tie-breaking criteria of the ninth base.1.

Appeals and effects

The resolution exhausts the administrative route. A contentious-administrative appeal may be filed against it before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Toledo within two months from the day following its publication, or, optionally, a prior appeal for reversal before the same body within one month.

The appointment completes the incorporation of a new cohort of neurologists into the regional public health system and arrives with a clear mandate: to occupy as soon as possible positions that until now did not have a permanent holder. For healthcare personnel awaiting destination, the resolution opens the door to possible awards due to resignations; for patients on the neurology waiting list, it means the effective incorporation of eight specialists into the specialized care network of Castilla-La Mancha.
