Sescam announces a competitive process for three Internal Medicine head positions in Albacete

The Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (Sescam) has announced the provision of three Section Headships of Internal Medicine at the Integrated Care Management of Albacete. The call is approved by the Resolution of 10/28/2026, of the Integrated Care Management of Albacete, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) No. 213, of November 6, 2026, in section II (Authorities and Personnel, Competitive Examinations and Contests), with the official reference 2026/7906. The deadline for submitting applications is one month starting from the day following its publication.

Regulatory Framework and Delegated Competence

The resolution is issued by virtue of the competencies delegated to the Integrated Care Management of Albacete by the Resolution of November 20, 2023, of the Sescam Management Directorate, regarding the delegation of competencies (DOCM No. 233, of 12/05/2023), and has the prior authorization of the General Directorate of Human Resources and Transformation of Sescam.

The process is governed by Decree 89/2005, of July 26, on the provision of care-based Headships of the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (DOCM No. 151, of July 29, 2005), modified by Law 1/2026, on Administrative and Tax Measures of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM No. 61, of March 30, 2026), and by Law 55/2003, of December 16, of the Framework Statute for statutory personnel.

The three positions will be filled through a competitive merit system. The selected person will receive a temporary appointment for four years, at the end of which they will be evaluated for the purpose of their continuity.

Requirements, Deadlines, and Phases of the Contest

Those appointed as permanent statutory personnel with a position in the specialty of Internal Medicine in public health institutions of the National Health System may apply, as well as career civil servants or permanent contractual staff providing services in publicly owned hospitals in that specialty. It is required to prove a minimum of three years of service in the specialty in public health institutions of the National Health System or the European Union.

• Applications: electronically, via the electronic office form of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (jccm.es) or from the Sescam website (sanidad.castillalamancha.es), within one month from the day following publication.
• Documentation: professional curriculum vitae with the merits evaluable according to the scale in Annex I, and a technical project on the organization, operation, and activities of the healthcare unit.
• First phase: evaluation of the professional curriculum vitae, up to 100 points.
• Second phase: public presentation of the technical project, with a maximum of 60 minutes, up to 100 points.
• Threshold: the commission may not leave the position unfilled if the applicants meet the requirements and achieve at least 100 points.
• Resolution: maximum period of three months from the day following the end of the application period.
• Taking office: one month from the day following the publication of the final result in the DOCM.

The scale in Annex I distributes the score among university education (maximum 5 points), specialized training (10), professional experience (55), research activity (15), and management training and experience (15).

Evaluation Commission

The commission was appointed by the General Directorate of Human Resources and Transformation by means of the Resolution of 06/02/2026. Its permanent members are:

• President: Mónica Vargas Berzosa.
• Members: Carlos Romero Román, Jesús Javier Castellanos Monedero, María José Hervás Laguna, and Laura Ramírez Relinque.
• Secretary: María Dolores Nicolás Agudo.

The alternates are Nuria Sánchez Marín (president); Julio Montoya Fernández, Jesús Igualada Quintanilla, María Imelda Elices Calzón, and María Luisa Sánchez Carretero (members); and Juan Miguel González Sánchez (secretary).

Claims and Appeals

Following the application period, the provisional list of admitted and excluded persons will be published, with 10 business days for claims; the same period is provided for the provisional result. The resolution corresponds to the Integrated Care Management of Albacete, following a binding proposal from the commission, and will be published in the DOCM.

Against the resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Albacete within two months, or, optionally, a motion for reconsideration before the Management Directorate of Integrated Care of Albacete within one month. The procedure is listed under number 187087 and code SIACI KMMQ, and the document is signed by the managing director, Alberto Sansón Juste.

The call for applications affects three high-responsibility clinical positions at the reference hospital of the province of Albacete: the filling of these leadership roles conditions the organization of the Internal Medicine unit, a specialty that handles a central part of hospitalization and the care of patients with multiple pathologies; therefore, its resolution is of interest to both the medical staff and the users of the health area.
