The Extremadura Health Service (SES) has granted a direct subsidy of 108,100 euros to the Extremadura Oncology Association (AOEX) for the development of the program “Psychosocial support for cancer patients” during the year 2025. The announcement, signed on October 19, 2026, by the managing director of the organization, Encarnación Solís Pérez, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 205, dated October 23, 2026, with the official reference 2026081792.
A direct grant outside of public competition
The grant is based on article 22.4.c) of Law 6/2011, of March 23, on Subsidies of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, which allows for the granting of subsidies directly and without a prior call when, exceptionally, reasons of public, social, economic, or humanitarian interest occur that hinder a public call. Article 32.1.a) of the same regulation adds as an exceptional case those in which, due to the special nature of the activity or the characteristics of the recipient, it is not possible to promote competition, provided that they are public entities or non-profit private entities.
The resolution corresponds to the Managing Directorate of the SES, according to the competencies attributed by Decree 221/2008, of October 24, which approves the Statutes of the Autonomous Body Extremadura Health Service. Article 17.1 of Law 6/2011 obliges the granting body to publish the granted subsidies in the Official Gazette of Extremadura and in the Subsidies Portal of the Autonomous Community, indicating the call, the program, the budget credit, the beneficiary, the amount, and the purpose.

- Beneficiary: Extremadura Oncology Association (AOEX).
- Amount granted: 108,100.00 euros.
- Budget application: 3901G/212C/480.00.

The text of the annex explains the approach of the program: the person receiving care, appropriately supported by their medical, social, psychological, and family environment, can mobilize personal resources to participate actively in the fight for their recovery and orient their life toward health.
A relationship that is repeated in other lines of aid
The publication of this grant is added to other aid from the SES to the same entity through different channels. The Official Gazette of Extremadura number 191, dated October 2, 2026, publicized a direct grant of 88,900 euros to AOEX for the “Psychological Support Program in Palliative Care” for the 2026 fiscal year, with project code 20100411 and the same budget application 3901.212C.480.00 (reference 2026081622).
Furthermore, the competitive bidding process has also funded the association’s activity: the Resolution of September 15, 2026, from the General Directorate of Planning, Training, and Quality, published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 184, dated September 23, 2026 (reference 2026062386), resolved the call for applications from the Resolution of June 22, 2026, of the General Secretariat and allocated 20,000 euros to AOEX for the 2026 project “Psychological support for people with oncological pathology and their families,” compared to the 28,332.21 euros requested.
Closing
The publicity of this award allows patients, families, and third-sector entities to know the public support for psychological and social accompaniment for cancer in Extremadura, a field that the SES finances through both direct award and competitive calls. The details of the beneficiary, the amount, and the imputation credit are also accessible on the Grants Portal of the Autonomous Community, as required by Law 6/2011.
