The Canary Islands Health Service appoints 55 stabilized nurses as permanent staff

The Canary Islands Health Service has appointed 55 nurses as permanent statutory staff in vacant basic positions in the category of Nurse, Group A/A2 Healthcare, as part of the second allocation of the exceptional selection process for the stabilization of long-term temporary employment (merit competition). This is established by the Resolution of August 31, 2026, signed by the director of the organization, Adasat Goya González, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 183, dated September 11, 2026.

The successful candidates will have a non-extendable period of 15 calendar days, counting from the day following publication, to take possession of the position at the corresponding health center. The resolution directly affects the selected applicants and the filling of vacancies in hospitals and health areas throughout the archipelago.

A long-term stabilization process

The appointment is part of the extraordinary process for the stabilization of temporary employment convened by the General Directorate of Human Resources of the Canary Islands Health Service through the Resolution of December 23, 2022, published in the BOC number 255, in execution of the Extraordinary Public Employment Offers provided for in Law 20/2021, of December 28.

The second allocation comes after the publication, on April 15, 2026, of Resolution No. 2430/2026, which submitted the appointment proposal, and the resolution of June 30, 2026 (BOC No. 139, of July 13), which resolved the first allocation. After the expiration of the possession period, the managements declared certain positions vacant due to resignations, which prompted this final allocation based on strict order of precedence.

Destinations in hospitals and health areas

The allocated positions are distributed among the main health centers of the Canary Islands:

• “Dr. Negrín” University Hospital of Gran Canaria
• Insular-Materno Infantil University Hospital Complex
• Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital
• University Hospital Complex of the Canary Islands
• Primary Care Management of the Gran Canaria Health Area
• Primary Care Management of the Tenerife Health Area
• Health Services Managements of the Health Areas of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Palma

Among those appointed are, among others, Beatriz González Fajardo, Paula Victoria Rodríguez Piñeiro, Elisa Rijo Hernández, Esther Abad Victoriano, Laxmi Dadlani Martín, María del Mar Vega Perera, Ángel Domínguez Castro, and Karine Mariolis Felió López, with destinations covering both specialized care and primary care.

Requirements for taking possession

Applicants must identify themselves with a DNI, NIE, or passport, and those who do not appear in the SIRHUS system of the Canary Islands Health Service must provide a certified copy of the document. Those who do not hold Spanish nationality must prove compliance with the requirements of the fifth clause of the call.

Failure to take office within the deadline implies the loss of all rights derived from participation in the process, except for alleged and justified causes. Those who are in a situation of temporary disability may defer their incorporation until medical discharge, notifying the destination management in writing. Permanent staff who gain access through this route may not obtain a service commission outside the Canary Islands Health Service for two years, except for causes of gender-based violence or terrorism.

Impact on healthcare coverage

This resolution consolidates the nursing staff of the Canarian public health system, reducing temporality and guaranteeing stable coverage of basic positions in hospitals and health centers across all islands. An administrative appeal may be filed against the resolution before the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, or optionally, a request for reversal before the director of the Canary Islands Health Service within one month.
