The Canary Islands Employment Service opens social economy grants for 300,000 euros

The Canarian Employment Service has opened the call for grants for the 2026 financial year, under a competitive bidding process, aimed at supporting the creation and employment in social economy entities in the Canary Islands and the development of training and promotion activities. The call is approved by the Resolution of September 2, 2026, of the President of the organization, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 183, of September 11, 2026, in section V of Announcements, with the identifier BDNS 927620.

The total allocation amounts to 300,000 euros, financed with funds from the State Public Employment Service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy. The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Grants Database.

Purpose and beneficiary entities

The call seeks to promote the permanent incorporation of unemployed persons and workers with temporary or permanent contracts who do not yet have such status, as worker-members or working members in cooperatives and labor companies. It also supports the development of training and promotion activities for the social economy.

Two types of entities may be beneficiaries:

• Labor companies and cooperatives with worker-members or working members, for the action of permanent incorporation of new members.
• Associative entities of cooperatives, labor companies, and integration enterprises, for training and promotion activities.

Entities carrying out activities contemplated in Article 1 of the Commission (EU) Regulations No. 2023/2831, No. 717/2014, and No. 1408/2013, and those that do not comply with the provisions of said regulations, are excluded.

Distribution of the budgetary allocation

The funds are allocated in two budgetary applications of the Canarian Employment Service budget for 2026, within the PEP element 50400040 “Self-employment and business creation”:

• 100,000 euros for grants for the permanent incorporation of worker-members or working members into cooperatives and labor companies.
• 200,000 euros to finance the implementation of training and promotion activities for the social economy.

Deadline and submission of applications

Interested entities must submit the application according to the model available on the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, accompanied by the documentation established in the seventh clause of the regulating order. The submission period is ten business days, counted from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.

Applications submitted after the deadline or those not submitted through the established electronic procedure will not be accepted for processing, with no possibility of rectification. Notification of the award resolution will be carried out via publication on the electronic notice board of the Canarian Employment Service, and the grants will be made effective in a single payment upon justification or by advance payment, once the final resolution has been notified.

Regulatory Framework

The call is governed by Order No. 675/2024, of November 7, 2024, of the Minister of Tourism and Employment, which approves the regulatory bases for these grants (BOC No. 233, of 11.21.2024), amended by Order No. 551/2025, of August 20, 2025 (BOC No. 172, of 9.1.2025). The resolution is signed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria by the President, Jéssica del Carmen de León Verdugo.

This call reinforces public support for the social economy model in the Canary Islands, a key sector for the creation of stable and quality employment in the archipelago. By combining the incorporation of new worker-members with training and sector promotion, the measure seeks to consolidate cooperatives and labor societies as a sustainable business alternative across all the islands.
