SEPE allocates 7.05 million to hire young people in the state public sector

The State Public Employment Service (SEPE) has announced grants for a maximum total amount of 7,057,043 euros to finance, during the 2026 fiscal year, the hiring of unemployed young people under thirty years of age in the state public sector. The call is approved by the Resolution of September 21, 2026, of the General Directorate of the SEPE, the extract of which is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) number 235, of September 23, 2026, in section V-B, page 49906, with official reference BOE-B-2026-30719. Applications may be submitted within a period of 15 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the extract.

The “First Professional Experience Projects in Public Administrations” are one of the initiatives of the “Program to avoid discrimination on the grounds of age,” regulated in articles 75 to 76 ter of Royal Decree 818/2021, of September 28, on common employment activation programs of the National Employment System, with the modification introduced by Royal Decree 1248/2024, of December 10. The call is also governed by Order TES/1077/2023, of September 28, modified by Order TES/234/2025, of March 7, and by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies.

Amount and financing

The grants are financed from the credit reserve of the SEPE expenditure budget provided for in article 62.5 of Law 3/2023, of February 28, and specifically with budget credits 19.101.241A.482.11, for a maximum amount of 7,057,043 euros.

• The amount may be increased by an additional sum, conditional upon the declaration of credit availability before the call is resolved.
• The grants may be co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) during the 2021-2027 period.
• The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and its identification in the National Grants Database is 930760.

The amount is more than four times that of the equivalent 2025 call, which was set at 1,500,000 euros (reference BOE-B-2025-27743, BOE number 181, of July 29, 2025). Along the same line of youth employment, the SEPE announced the “Investigo Projects” in July 2026 with 6,129,705 euros (reference BOE-B-2026-22533, BOE number 160, of July 2, 2026).

Beneficiaries and type of contracts

Beneficiaries may be the bodies of the General State Administration, public organisms, and institutions that make up the state public sector, regarding the hirings carried out under these projects.

• Hiring is formalized through a training contract to obtain professional practice appropriate to the level of studies, with a duration of no less than 10 months and no more than 12 months.
• Salary costs for all concepts derived from these contracts are subsidized.
• Priority will be given to positions linked to the ecological transition and the green economy, the digitalization of services, social cohesion, and local rural development.
• The tutoring of the hired persons may be subsidized during the first three months of the employment relationship, with a reference amount of 215 euros per month.
• Entities must provide professional information, guidance, or training during the term of the contracts and comply with occupational risk prevention obligations.

Deadline and submission of applications

The deadline is 15 calendar days from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOE, and includes the application for the subsidy of costs associated with tutoring, which cannot be requested subsequently. The document appears signed by the Director General of the SEPE, Ricardo Cuesta García, in Madrid, on September 21, 2026.

Parallel territorial calls

The state call coexists with those deployed by the provincial directorates of the organization. The Provincial Directorate of the SEPE in Melilla approved on July 10, 2026, an equivalent call for its territory, endowed with 180,000 euros expandable up to 1,000,000 euros, charged to credit 19.101.241A.460.03 and a deadline of one month for salary costs (reference BOE-B-2026-24127, BOE number 170, of July 14, 2026).

The call reinforces the budgetary effort in youth employment within the state public sector and opens a labor access route for those under thirty years of age with recent qualifications. For interested organizations, the calendar is tight: they have barely two weeks to formalize their applications and secure the funding for the hirings planned for this fiscal year.
