The SAS calls for three faculty head positions in hospitals in Huelva, Cádiz, and Jaén
Por FactBox Admin

The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has announced, through a merit-based competition system, the filling of three intermediate management positions for medical leadership in three public hospitals in Andalusia. The three resolutions, signed by the General Directorate of Personnel of the SAS, are published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) number 160, dated Wednesday, August 19, 2026, within the section for competitive examinations, competitions, and other calls.
The positions affect the healthcare staffing of three provinces and specialties with high healthcare demand: emergency services, endocrinology, and neurology. The filling of these positions is processed via a merit-based competition system, which evaluates the professional trajectory and training of the applicants without an examination phase.
The three announced positions
The calls correspond to the following positions and centers:
- Head of Medical Emergency Services at the Infanta Elena Hospital of Huelva (resolution of August 14, 2026, text no. 11159, 14 pages).
- Head of Medical Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at the Puerta del Mar University Hospital of Cádiz (resolution of August 14, 2026, text no. 11137, 14 pages).
- Head of Medical Neurology Section at the University Hospital of Jaén (resolution of August 12, 2026, text no. 11082, 13 pages).
Regulatory framework and procedure
The calls are part of the SAS policy for filling intermediate management positions, which allows for the temporary filling of service and section leadership roles in Andalusian public health centers. The merit-based competition system is governed by the general rules applicable to this type of selection process for statutory personnel of health services.
Interested parties must meet the qualification and experience requirements demanded for each specialty and submit their application within the timeframe and through the channels established by the respective rules. The evaluation of merits will be carried out according to the scales established in each resolution.
Relevance for Andalusian healthcare
The provision of these leadership roles strengthens the clinical management capacity of three provincial reference hospitals, especially in areas such as emergency services, where the appointment of medical managers is key to the organization of care. The simultaneous publication of the three calls in a single gazette demonstrates the SAS commitment to regularizing the coverage of intermediate positions within the Andalusian public hospital network.
