The regulations of the Cabildo's Institute of Museums, subject to public consultation.

Por FactBox Admin

The Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria has submitted to public consultation the Organic Regulation of the Institute for the Integrated Management of Museums, initially approved by the Plenary at its ordinary session of 31 July 2026. The announcement, published in Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas number 97, of 14 August 2026 (registration 1,715,488), opens a period of thirty working days for examining the text and submitting claims and suggestions.

The procedure is carried out in application of article 49.b of Law 7/1985, of 2 April, Regulating the Bases of Local Government, which provides for public consultation before final approval of local regulations. The file falls under the Cabildo’s Department of Culture, whose Museums Service signs the announcement dated 10 August 2026, through the Government Councillor for Culture, Guacimara Medina Pérez.

A new model of museum management

The regulation now under consultation organises the structure of the Institute for the Integrated Management of Museums of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the new body that will assume the administration of the island’s museum network. With this reorganisation, the management of the island’s museum centres will be integrated into a single body, replacing the management structure currently in force.

Initial approval was given by the Plenary of the Cabildo on 31 July 2026. The text will only become final after the public consultation period and the subsequent publication of its full content.

Thirty days to file claims and consult the file

The public consultation period is thirty (30) working days, counted from the day following publication of the announcement in the provincial bulletin. During this period, any interested person may:

  • Examine the full text of the regulation.
  • Submit claims and suggestions to the Cabildo.

The file is available to the public at the Museums Service, Calle Bravo Murillo, 23, 4th floor, 35003 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (access via Calle Pérez Galdós, 51), from 09:00 to 13:00 hours, Monday to Friday.

Where to consult the full text

In addition to in-person inspection, the certificate of the plenary agreement and the full text of the regulation may be consulted at:

  • The Notice Board of the Corporate Electronic Headquarters of the Cabildo (notice 20260810_10443339).
  • The Notice Board of the Corporation, at the Citizens’ Information and Assistance Office.
  • The Transparency Portal of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria website.

Towards final approval

If, after the public consultation period, no claims or suggestions are submitted, the regulation will be deemed finally approved. In that case, its full text will be published in:

  • The Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
  • The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.
  • The electronic office of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.

The public consultation makes citizens part of the process of shaping the new institute that will govern the management of the island’s museums. Submitting representations in this procedure allows influence to be exerted on the text before it becomes final, in a reorganization that will affect the daily functioning of the island museum network and public access to its centers.
