El Priorat convoca ajuts de desplaçament escolar fins a 1.000 euros

The Priorat County Council has approved the regulatory bases for individual school travel grants for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at students who must travel due to a lack of educational offerings in their municipality. The call, with a maximum amount of 1,000 euros per family per academic year, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on September 10, 2026, with official reference CVE 2026-08291.

The Governing Board of the County Council approved the bases and the call on July 20, 2026, and the full publication is made in accordance with Article 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime. The objective is to guarantee the right to education and promote compensatory actions for people in unfavorable geographical situations, in accordance with Decree 160/1996 and Decree 161/1996, both of May 14.

Beneficiaries and requirements

Students enrolled in an educational center in the Priorat region supported by public funds from Catalonia may apply for the grant, specifically in the second and third years of the first cycle of early childhood education (in schools owned by the Generalitat where it has been implemented), as well as in any year of the second cycle of early childhood education and compulsory education.

  • Beneficiaries shall be students who do not have an educational offering in their municipality and are forced to travel.
  • Enrollment in a center in the region supported by public funds, in accordance with the Priorat school map.
  • That the Priorat County Council has not established a collective school transport service for this itinerary.

The maximum amount of the grant is well below 3,000 euros per year and beneficiary, and is granted per family and per school year.

Amounts and destinations

Since there is only one municipality where the County Council has not organized the collective school transport service, the grants are specified in two routes:

  • Students with the municipality of origin La Bisbal de Montsant and destination Escola Montsant in Margalef: maximum amount of 1,000.00 euros/year.
  • Students with the municipality of origin Arbolí and destination Institut Escola Corbatera in Cornudella de Montsant: maximum amount of 1,000.00 euros/year.

If it is verified that the travel days are fewer than the school days of the academic year, the grant will be reduced proportionally.

Procedure and justification

The granting procedure is one of non-competitive concurrence, in the form of direct grant, as provided for in Article 22.2.c) of the General Law on Subsidies, since the grants will be awarded to all students who meet the requirements. Applications shall be submitted on a standardized form (Annex I) electronically via the electronic office of the County Council or at the reference school center, preferably through the procedures portal of the website www.priorat.cat.

  • The instruction of the procedure corresponds to the technician responsible for Education of the Comarcal Council.
  • The competent body to grant or deny the aid is the Governing Board.
  • The director of the center must present the justification form (Annex II) certifying the student’s attendance during the course.
  • Payment will be made directly to the beneficiary via bank transfer.

The extract of the call will be published through the National Grants Database, and the granted subsidies will be subject to publicity in the National Subsidy Publicity System, although the Comarcal Council will indicate that the beneficiaries’ data must not be subject to publication to preserve the right to privacy.

The call represents direct relief for the families of La Bisbal de Montsant and Arbolí, who must transport their children daily due to the lack of educational offerings in the municipality. With these grants, the Comarcal Council of Priorat reinforces the principle of equal opportunities for the school population and guarantees the right to education in a territory with strong geographical dispersion.
