The Plenary of Fuerte del Rey approves the 2026-2027 Financial Economic Plan

The Plenary of the City Council of Fuerte del Rey (Jaén) approved the Economic and Financial Plan 2026-2027 in an ordinary session held on 25 June 2026, and the agreement has been published by means of an announcement by the Mayor-President, Francisca Peinado Ortega, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Jaén No. 156, of 13 August 2026, page 12604, with official reference 2026/3689. The publication is made for the general knowledge of the citizenry and of interested persons.

The dissemination of the agreement is in accordance with the provisions of Article 23.4 of the Organic Law 2/2012, of 27 April, on Budgetary Stability and Financial Sustainability, which requires local entities to make the plan public when circumstances arise that jeopardize compliance with the stability and debt objectives. The Economic and Financial Plan 2026-2027 is the instrument with which the municipality intends to correct its financial situation within the horizon of the two fiscal years it covers.

The file was processed and submitted to the municipal governing body, which approved it in Plenary at its ordinary session of 25 June 2026. The announcement was signed on 29 July 2026 by the Mayor-President, Francisca Peinado Ortega, in her capacity as the highest authority of the corporation, and its insertion in the official bulletin took place on 13 August 2026.

The plan is approved in compliance with Article 23.4 of the Organic Law 2/2012, of 27 April, on Budgetary Stability and Financial Sustainability, a rule that regulates the principles of stability, financial sustainability and responsibility of public administrations. When a local entity fails to comply with the budgetary stability objectives, the public debt objective, or the spending rule, it must formulate an economic and financial plan that enables the recovery of equilibrium within the established period, with the approval of the Plenary and its subsequent publication.

The insertion in the official bulletin gives effectiveness and transparency to the agreement, which is part of the documentation that the corporation must keep available to residents and to the external control bodies responsible for safeguarding the sustainability of municipal accounts.

In this way, any resident can access the content of the plan and learn about the measures planned by the governing team to correct the municipality’s financial situation during fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

Publication of the notice in the BOP de Jaén completes the publicity procedure for the plenary agreement and allows the approval of the plan to take effect against third parties, in accordance with the legal regime of local entities.

Relevance for residents

The approval and publication of the 2026-2027 Financial Economic Plan directly affects the sustainability of the municipal accounts of Fuerte del Rey and, therefore, the City Council’s ability to maintain and finance the public services received by residents.
