The Plenary approves an increase of 850,000 euros in the IMTUR budget

The Plenary Council of Córdoba definitively approved on September 17, 2026, the budget modification of the Municipal Tourism Institute of Córdoba (IMTUR) for the amount of 850,000.00 euros, in the form of extraordinary credit and credit supplement. The agreement, identified as no. 215/26, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba no. 187, dated September 28, 2026, in the Other Entities section (official reference BOP-A-2026-3210).

The file was reported by the Governing Council of IMTUR in the session of September 9, 2026, and reached the Plenary after the initial approval and the public exhibition period. The edict states that the agreement was adopted in an ordinary session and that the oral interventions of the debate are recorded in full, under the public faith of the General Secretariat of the Plenary, in the electronic video-minutes application.

Rejection of the socialist claim

The first agreement of the Plenary consists of dismissing the claim presented by the Socialist Municipal Group against the initial approval of the budget modification. The body rejects the document because it is not based on any of the causes provided for in Article 170.2 of the consolidated text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5.

The vote on the matter yielded the following result:

• 15 votes in favor, from the representatives of the Popular Municipal Group.
• 3 abstentions, from the representatives of the VOX Municipal Group.
• 11 votes against, from the Socialist Municipal Group (7) and Hacemos Córdoba (4).

Destination of the 850,000 euros

The second agreement definitively approves the 2026 budget modification of IMTUR, with the following detail of additions to expenditure applications:

• 500,000.00 euros as a transfer to the Córdoba City Council (application 43221/46201).
• 200,000.00 euros as a transfer to IMDEEC (application 43211/46201).
• 150,000.00 euros for advertising and propaganda (application 43231/22602).

Of the total amount, 700,000.00 euros correspond to extraordinary credit and 150,000.00 euros to a credit supplement, as stated in the edict.

Financing and publicity of the agreement

The operation is fully financed by the treasury surplus for general expenses, recorded in revenue application 87000 for the same 850,000.00 euros. The third agreement orders the publication of the definitive approval in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba and the sending of a copy to the State Administration and the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía).

The edict is signed by the president of the Municipal Tourism Institute of Córdoba, María Antonia Aguilar Ríder, in Córdoba on September 22, 2026, by delegation of the Mayor’s Office (no. 12859/24, of September 3, 2024).

The expansion consolidates the role of IMTUR as the City Council’s financial instrument for tourism matters and reinforces, with municipal funds, both the coffers of the City Council itself and those of IMDEEC, in addition to providing a specific allocation for promotion. The support of 15 votes against 11 opposed and 3 abstentions confirms the majority of the governing team in a matter with reservations from the opposition, which had already protested against the initial processing.
