El Pla de Santa Maria calls for school transport grants 2026-2027

The Pla de Santa Maria City Council has announced transport grants for early childhood education students (first and second cycles) and primary education students enrolled in a center proposed by the Department of Education located within the municipality. The governing board approved the call on October 8, 2026, and the announcement was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on October 21, 2026, with the reference CVE 2026-09649. Interested families may submit their applications from October 5 to 30, 2026, and in a second period, from February 1 to 26, 2027.

The call is issued under the regulatory bases approved by the Plenary of the corporation in the session of September 24, 2026, which establish the requirements that applicants must meet. The announcement bears the signature of the mayor, Josep Silvestre Solé, dated October 15, 2026, and occupies pages 1 to 3 of the provincial gazette.

The purpose of the grant is to cover the cost of the journey between the applicant’s home and the school center, such that the subsidy compensates for the transport expenses of families with children enrolled in the early childhood and primary stages.

Two periods to apply for the grant

The submission calendar is divided into two windows, and any application submitted outside these deadlines will not be processed:

• First period: from October 5 to 30, 2026.
• Second period: from February 1 to 26, 2027.

Documents should preferably be submitted electronically, through the procedures portal of the Pla de Santa Maria City Council (Generic Instance), or in person at the municipal offices.

Attendance certificates and correction within ten business days

For processing, in addition to the documentation provided in the bases, attendance certificates for the educational center and the school canteen must be provided, with the following reference periods:

• First period: certificates between September 8, 2026, and January 30, 2027.
• Second period: certificates between February 3, 2027, and the last school day of the 2027 school year.

If the City Council requires the correction of documentation, the interested person has a maximum term of 10 business days from the day following the notification, in accordance with article 68.1 of Law 39/2015. Once this period has elapsed without the required documentation being provided, the application is considered withdrawn.

Up to 560 euros per school year

The maximum grant each beneficiary can receive is 560.00 euros for the entire school year. The subsidizable cost is the journey between the home and the center, valued at 0.80 euros per trip, with a maximum of four daily trips and two exceptions:

• During the period between June 8 and 19, the maximum number of trips per day is reduced to two.
• Beneficiaries who use the school canteen service also have a maximum of two daily trips.

The percentage of the subsidy is determined according to the actual class attendance:

• 100% of the subsidy with attendance between 75% and 100% of teaching hours.
• 75% of the subsidy with attendance between 50% and 74% of teaching hours.
• No right to the aid if a minimum of 49% of teaching hours is not proven.

Justification, control, and changes in family situation

The justification of the subsidies must be carried out within the terms and forms established by the regulatory bases. Beneficiaries must keep invoices and equivalent evidentiary documents for four years from the end date of the justification period, and must communicate and justify any change in family situation, such as the number of children or the economic regime.

The City Council of El Pla de Santa Maria may verify at any time, by means it deems appropriate, the destination of the granted amounts, and the beneficiary must provide free access to this verification.

For families in the municipality with schooled children, the call represents a saving of up to 560 euros per year in transport, with two application windows that allow the request to fit according to the time of the course and actual class attendance.
