The Patronat de Festes announces the competition for the Magdalena 2027 mascletaes

The Patronat Municipal de Festes de Castelló de la Plana has announced the competition for pyrotechnic shows-mascletaes for the 2027 Magdalena Festivities, through which seven pyrotechnic companies will be selected to fire the mascletaes between March 1 and 7, 2027, both dates inclusive. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Castellón, number 108, dated September 8, 2026, with reference 03991-2026-U and identifier BDNS 928065.

The announcement includes the extract of the agreement of the Governing Council dated September 3, 2026, by which the regulatory bases of the competition are approved, consisting of the Technical Bases and the Administrative Bases. The publication is carried out in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text can be consulted in the National Subsidies Database and on the electronic office (sede.castello.es).

Participation expenses and payment method

The selected companies will be paid, as participation expenses, the amount of 9,500 euros, VAT included, charged to the budget of the Patronat Municipal de Festes. The amount will be paid in two installments:

• 4,500 euros, VAT included, at the time of the formalization of the contract.
• 5,000 euros, VAT included, after the satisfactory performance of the corresponding pyrotechnic show.

Submission of applications

Interested companies shall submit their application through the Patronat’s electronic office, identified as Annex I, stating their knowledge, conformity, and acceptance of the technical, security, and administrative bases. They must provide certification that they are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and declare their availability to fire the mascletà between March 1 and 7, 2027, at 2:00 PM at the location designated by the Patronat.

The deadline for submitting applications ends on October 5, 2026.

Competition prizes

The competition provides for the following prizes, subject to applicable tax withholdings:

• First prize: 3,000 euros and an accrediting trophy. The Patronat will extend an invitation to the winning company for the contracting of the opening mascletà of the 2028 Magdalena Festivities.
• Second prize: 2,000 euros and an accrediting trophy.
• Third prize: 1,000 euros and an accrediting trophy.
• Best ground earthquake: accrediting trophy.
• Best aerial earthquake: accrediting trophy.

The jury reserves the right to declare all or any of the prizes void. The call is signed by Noelia Selma Andreu, president of the Patronat Municipal de Festes.

The call for applications reinforces the festive and cultural nature of the Fiestas de la Magdalena, one of Castelló’s most emblematic events, and guarantees the participation of pyrotechnic companies in a competition of great impact for the city and its tradition.
