Por FactBox Admin

The El Paso City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (number 102, dated August 26, 2026) two calls for financial study grants, processed under a competitive bidding system. The first, reference 1762046, finances the acquisition of school supplies; the second, reference 1762079, supports students pursuing studies outside the island of La Palma.

Both calls are addressed to persons registered in the municipality of El Paso and are based on the regulatory bases definitively approved by the Plenary of the Corporation in the ordinary session of June 27, 2022, published in the BOP of Santa Cruz de Tenerife number 103, dated August 26, 2022. The summaries are disseminated in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and the full text is available in the National Subsidies Database.

Grants for school supplies

Call 1762046 (BDNS 925905) allocates a credit of €40,000 charged to item 3260.48027 and expenditure project 26.3.0000058 of the 2026 budget. The amounts vary according to the educational stage of the 2026/2027 academic year:

  • €100 for students in the first and second cycles of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education.
  • €150 for students in the first and second cycles of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), Bachillerato, and Intermediate and Higher Vocational Training Cycles.

The purpose is to cover the expenses necessary for the maintenance of educational activity: books, school supplies, electronic devices, clothing, and similar items. Direct beneficiaries are students with special educational needs duly accredited by the educational center.

Grants for studying outside the island

Call 1762079 has a credit of €55,000 charged to item 3260.48027 and expenditure project 26.3.0000059. It covers travel, rent, materials, and study expenses derived from pursuing studies outside La Palma during the 2026/2027 academic year:

  • €600 for studies on the Peninsula.
  • €400 for studies on other islands of the Canary Archipelago.

This includes doctoral, master’s, and postgraduate studies, higher-level studies and university schools, higher musical studies, vocational training, and pedagogical qualification courses, among others.

Requirements and deadlines

To access either of the two grants, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be registered as a resident (empadronados) in the municipality of El Paso.
  • Be enrolled in an educational center in the stages or studies covered by the aid.
  • Not exceed the income thresholds set in the guidelines, which use the IPREM in effect at the time of the call as a reference.
  • Be up to date with tax obligations to the AEAT and the TGSS, and have no outstanding debt with the City Council.

The deadline for submitting applications is one month from the publication of the summary in the official bulletin. Applications shall be submitted at the City Council’s entry registry or electronically via the Electronic Office (sede.elpaso.es). The processing is the responsibility of the Education Area, and the grant will be approved by Mayoral Resolution, with a maximum resolution period of three months. The announcements are signed by the mayor-president, Eloy Martín Barreto, dated August 17, 2026.

These calls reinforce the municipal policy of supporting families with limited incomes in El Paso, facilitating both the continuity of studies within the municipality and the mobility of those who must travel outside the island for training, a key factor for equal educational opportunities in the insular environment.
