The OAR opens voluntary payment for water and sewage until January
Por FactBox Admin

The Autonomous Body for Tax Collection and Management (OAR) of the Provincial Council of Badajoz has opened the voluntary payment period for receipts regarding water supply fees, wastewater treatment, and other local public revenues. The period runs from October 20, 2026, to January 22, 2027, both inclusive, and affects taxpayers of all public entities that have delegated their collection management to this body. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 204, dated October 23, 2026, under reference Announcement 4197/2026.
A three-month period without surcharges
During the voluntary period, taxpayers may make their payments without any surcharge at any of the deposit entities that have a service provision agreement with the OAR, as established in section 2-b of article 24 of the General Collection Regulations, approved by Royal Decree 939/2005, of July 29.
The collaborating entities are:
- Abanca
- Ibercaja
- Caixabank
- Caja Rural de Extremadura
- Caja Almendralejo
- Banca Pueyo
- BBVA
- Banco Santander
- Unicaja Banco
Payment is made by presenting the payment notice received at the home address, at the counter or at the ATM of any of these entities. Electronic payment is also possible through the financial entity’s online banking, the OAR website using a credit or debit card (Virtual POS), or the Virtual Office, using an electronic ID (DNIe), digital certificate, or Cl@ve.
More than 90 entities and the Regional Government of Extremadura
The list of active subjects included in the announcement exceeds ninety local entities, mostly city councils with quarterly periods for the 2026 fiscal year, along with the Cornalvo corporations (Aljucén, El Carrascalejo, Mirandilla, San Pedro de Mérida, Trujillanos, and Valverde de Mérida) and the Regional Government of Extremadura for the sanitation fee.
The concepts vary: water supply, sewerage, wastewater treatment, urban solid waste collection, and municipal fees. Many municipalities are listed with the mention PROMEDIO, referring to the joint management of the service. Don Benito and Alburquerque appear with a four-month period (4-BIM), while the rest of the list is settled quarterly (3-TRI).
Tax rolls displayed for one month and appeal for reversal
The tax rolls were approved by agreement of the Head of the Tax Management Service dated October 19, 2026, and will be available for public inspection for one month starting from the first day of payment. Consultations can be made at the OAR Central Services, the Regional Collection Offices, and the city council of the corresponding municipality.
Public exhibition serves as collective notification of the settlements, under article 102.3 of the General Tax Law. Against the tax rolls and their settlements —except those relating to the City Council of Mérida— only an Appeal for Reversal (Recurso de Reposición) may be filed before the Head of the Tax Management Service of the OAR, within one month from the day following the end of the public exhibition, in accordance with article 14 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5. Subsequently, the Contentious-Administrative Court of Badajoz may be approached within two months.
Direct debits, duplicates, and executive period
The OAR recommends payment by direct debit in accordance with article 38 of the General Collection Regulations and warns that the debit of the direct debit receipts will be carried out starting from November 12. Anyone who has not received the payment notice may request a duplicate on any business day of the voluntary period, provided they are registered in the organization’s database.
Taxpayer assistance is provided at telephone 924 21 07 00 and at the virtual office oar.dip-badajoz.es. For in-person procedures, a prior appointment is required via the toll-free number 900 21 07 21, with offices in Almendralejo, Azuaga, Badajoz, Castuera, Don Benito, Fregenal de la Sierra, Fuente de Cantos, Herrera del Duque, Jerez de los Caballeros, Llerena, Mérida, Montijo, Olivenza, Talarrubias, Villafranca de los Barros, Villanueva de la Serena, and Zafra.
Once the voluntary period has elapsed, the executive period will begin, with the requirement of late payment interest, surcharges, and, where applicable, costs of the enforcement procedure, according to article 161 of the General Tax Law. The announcement is signed by the Head of the Tax Management Service, Jacinta Gambeta Mayo.
For residents of municipalities with delegated collection management, the calendar marks the first full quarter of water and sewage billing for the year: those who do not pay before January 22, 2027, will see their debt increased with surcharges, and those who have a direct debit receipt must verify that the charge scheduled for November 12 is carried out correctly.
