The ICA reopens grants for Murcian cinema until December

The Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts of the Region of Murcia (ICA) has reopened the application period for financial grants, on a competitive basis, intended for the promotion and commercialization of cinematographic productions created by production companies from the Region of Murcia. The new period, which begins the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM), will remain open until December 31, 2026.

The modification is published in BORM No. 213, of September 15, 2026 (page 20984), through the extract of the Resolution of the Director General of the ICA, Manuel Cebrián López, signed in Murcia on September 9, 2026, with official reference NPE: A-150926-4398.

Regulatory Framework and Background

The original call was issued on December 9, 2025, by the Director General of the ICA and published in BORM No. 287, of December 13, 2025. Article 4 already provided that, if surplus credit remained after resolving the submitted applications, the ICA could open a new period for this call.

Following the award resolution of July 10, 2026, which designated NEXUS CREAFILMS S.L. as the beneficiary with the project SORDA for the amount of €7,500.00, this possibility has been activated. This action is supported by the competence attributed to the General Directorate of the ICA by article 51.2.i) of Law 14/2012, of December 27, in relation to article 17 of Law 7/2005, of November 18, on Subsidies of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, and is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Amount and Requirements

The total amount allocated to the call is seventy-seven thousand five hundred euros (€77,500.00), charged to the credit allocated in the ICA budget for the 2025 financial year. The call is listed in the National Subsidies Database with the identifier BDNS 873702.

To be eligible, the works subject to promotion must meet the following requirements:

• Possess the Spanish nationality certificate at the time of application.
• Have the qualification certificate of works for cinematographic exploitation or for films and audiovisual works for non-cinematographic commercial exploitation.
• Said certificate must have been obtained during the 2024, 2025, or 2026 financial years, issued by the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts.

Execution Deadlines

The resolution distinguishes two execution periods depending on the origin of the projects:

• For the eligible activities of projects already submitted, the deadline runs from the day following the qualification of the work until June 30, 2027.
• For projects submitted during the new application period, the execution period extends until December 31, 2027.

The new application submission period begins the day following the publication of the resolution in the BORM and ends on December 31, 2026.

Relevance for the sector

The reopening offers a second opportunity to Murcian production companies that did not apply during the first period, with a budget of 77,500 euros and an extended execution horizon until the end of 2027. The measure, promoted by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, reinforces public support for the regional audiovisual industry at a time when the promotion and commercialization of works are key to their national and international projection.
