Por FactBox Admin

The El Gordo City Council has approved the call for grants for general expenses associated with the start of the 2026-2027 school year, under a competitive bidding process. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres number 165, dated August 28, 2026, with reference BOP-2026-4068 and file number 2026/0219.

The decision, signed on August 24, 2026, by the mayor-president, Pedro Javier Gutiérrez Recas, is adopted in accordance with article 21.1.f) and s) of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of the Local Regime. The grants will be governed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and by Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21, which approves its Regulation.

Beneficiaries and Amount

Beneficiaries may be fathers, mothers, or legal representatives of students residing in El Gordo, with a seniority of six months, who are enrolled in schools in Extremadura. The grant is set at 100.00 euros per student, charged to the expenditure budget for the 2025 fiscal year, and will be compatible with any other subsidy granted for the same purpose.

The educational levels covered are:

  • Early Childhood Education (second cycle, from 3 years old)
  • Primary Education
  • Compulsory Secondary Education (up to 4th year of ESO)
  • Baccalaureate
  • Vocational Training

Requirements and Documentation

Applicants must reside in the municipality and be up to date with tax obligations to the local Treasury, details which the City Council will verify ex officio. Among the obligations of the beneficiaries is to attend class regularly throughout the course; therefore, school absenteeism may result in the loss of the grant.

The documentation to be submitted includes:

  • Photocopy of the DNI, NIE, or passport of the applicant and, if applicable, of the adult student
  • Copy of the enrollment or certificate from the school center for the 2026-2027 course
  • Bank certificate of ownership with IBAN details
  • Responsible declaration in accordance with Annex II

Deadline and Processing

Applications, addressed to the mayor-president, may be submitted at the General Registry of the City Council, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday, or at the locations provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1. The deadline ends on September 10.

Following the review, lists of admitted and excluded applicants will be published on the Notice Board, with a period of five business days to rectify errors. The mayor will issue the resolution for granting or denying the aid within a maximum of five days from the proposal, and payment will be made by bank transfer.

The call provides direct relief for families in the municipality with school-age children, who will be able to afford the purchase of books and educational materials with a fixed municipal contribution of 100 euros per student.
