The Government renews the representation of the Chamber of Commerce in the CESCAN

The Governing Council of Cantabria has agreed, by means of Decree 62/2026, of August 27, the termination and appointment of the members representing the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce on the Economic and Social Council of Cantabria (CESCAN). The provision, published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria on September 2, 2026 (pages 42130 and 42131, reference CVE-2026-6854), renews the Chamber’s business dialogue within this advisory body.

The CESCAN is, according to Law 8/2018, of December 11, a collegiate body for participation and consultation on socio-economic and labor matters within the scope of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria, attached to the Department competent in matters of citizen participation. Its members were initially designated by Decree 5/2022, of February 3, published on February 4, 2022.

Renewal of Chamber Representation

The Executive Committee of the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce, in its session on March 23, 2026, reported the departure of the Chamber’s representative on the CESCAN and agreed upon the new designation. The certificate from the President of the Chamber was presented on April 9, 2026, and the proposal was formalized through the Resolution of the Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Security, and Administrative Simplification of August 21, 2026, in application of Article 3.1 of Law 8/2018.

The decree, approved by the Governing Council in its meeting on August 27, 2026, provides for:

• The termination, effective from the day of its publication, of Miguel Ángel Cuerno Estébanez, thanking him for the services rendered.
• The appointment as a member of the CESCAN, part of the fourth group, of Tomás Dasgoas Rodríguez, president of the Chamber, as the primary member.
• The appointment of Rosa Vega Salán, acting secretary general, as the alternate.

Swearing-in

The swearing-in must take place within one month, counting from the day following the date of publication of the decree in the Official Gazette of Cantabria, at the offices of the General Directorate of Administrative Simplification, Transparency, and Citizen Participation, located at calle Peña Herbosa, 29, Santander.

The decree bears the signature of the Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Security, and Administrative Simplification, María Isabel Urrutia de los Mozos, in her capacity as president of the Governing Council.

Relevance for Business Dialogue

With this renewal, the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce recovers an active representation in the CESCAN, a key body for advising the regional Government on economic, labor, and social matters. The presence of the Chamber’s president as the primary member reinforces the dialogue between the Cantabrian business fabric and the regional administration in debates regarding socio-economic policies.
