The Government promotes three Army commanders to general

Por FactBox Admin

The Council of Ministers, upon the proposal of the Minister of Defense, has agreed to the promotion of three commanders from the Army and the Marine Corps to the ranks of major general and brigadier general. The appointments are published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) number 212, dated August 28, 2026, in section II.A of Authorities and Personnel, through three royal decrees signed by the King.

The three decrees, dated August 26, 2026, were adopted following the deliberation of the Council of Ministers at its meeting on August 25, 2026, upon the proposal of the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles Fernández. They are published on pages 117081 to 117083 of the gazette and bear the signature of Felipe R. and the countersignature of the head of Defense.

The three promotions

Signature and effectiveness

The three royal decrees, signed on August 26, 2026, formalize the promotions within the category of general officers, the highest in the command scale of the Armed Forces. The promotion of Colonel Adolfo Morales Trueba becomes effective on August 30, 2026, as expressly stated in the text of the decree.

The promotions affect two different corps: two correspond to the General Corps of the Army and one to the Marine Corps, reflecting the renewal of leadership in both branches.

Relevance of the news

Promotion to general officer is a competence reserved for the Council of Ministers and is always formalized by royal decree, following a proposal from the Ministry of Defense. These appointments renew the command leadership of the Army and the Marine Corps, and their publication in the BOE grants them full legal validity and official publicity, so that the interested parties and the public can verify their content in the gazette.
